I'm mainly writing this to give an alternative to some of the other reviews I've read. First, I'm 60 years old, and using an Imac and a PowerBook g4. I had no trouble installing this on either machine. I have a simple set-up, just a home network, so maybe that's why, but it was no trouble. It is not a "mac-like" interface, but it's also no trouble to use. I understood it from the get-go. I want to emphasize that I installed--and use it--on both computers. The software itself is both fun to use, easy to "get" and in depth so far as the language is concerned. If you just do it in order, you'll end up being able to read, speak and write Spanish in a grammatically correct fashion. I purchased this for my college-aged daughter so that she could become proficient in Spanish. This has given her the practice she needs that the classroom (high school) did not.

This product takes up way too much room on my hard drive. I am thinking of uninstalling it and sending it back and rely on the old mapquest. This does make it handy however for routing a tour since I am a real estate agent, but not worth buying a new computer over.

I use Mavis with my adult keyboarding students. The step-by-step approach really works to give them confidence, and the rewards make them feel like they're getting somewhere.

I started using Final Draft7 immediately. The instructions were simple; the tutorial was practical and effective. I was able to begin the work on my screenplay in a short period of time. It is easy to use. I did my outline in WORD and wish I'd had Final Draft from the beginning. SJW

I have tried almost every single product on the market to help me learn a second language and nothing really worked. Rosetta Stone V3 is so far the best product I have tried. I am not speaking fluent Spanish yet and if you're in a huge rush this might not be for you. However, I am making slow and steady progress in the right direction and enjoying the process. I love the way the program is repetitive and has you learning in several different ways. It will say the word and you have to match up the picture. You hear the word and then must find the correct picture. You are also required to say words and it evaluates and can really assist you in working towards saying the word correctly. Can't cheat with this one. I am bad about searching for keys by looking, but the skin prevents that (and aggravates everyone in my family who still uses the hunt and peck method.) This program gives you plenty of feedback and advice. I think the drills are well done. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a typing tutor.

There is not such a thing as "Latin American Spanish". Period. The differences between Spanish spoken in any Latin American countries are in any case as large or as small as the differences between let's say "Castillian" Spanish and any one of those countries.

Rosetta Stone products are expensive, far more expensive than most of the language learning tools you'll find on Amazon or in a bookstore. But Rosetta Stone is well worth the price. Without a true immersion experience (visiting a foreign nation or cloistering yourself at a very expensive university program like Middlebury's where you must pledge to speak only the language you're trying to learn) it can be quite difficult to build speaking skills. Reading skills develop, but speaking, and listening, tend to lag pretty far behind. Rosetta Stone's French isn't as useful as a summer in Paris, but it's the next best thing. The lessons are exceptionally well-designed for a software immersion program and it's possible to begin to build real fluency if you stick with it and practice frequently. ... Read More
