QuickBooks Pro 2008 is great software for both the educated accountant and the small business entreprenuer. I think one of the best ways to utilize QuickBooks is to get some training so that you can use the software to its fullest and best. I know I woud be useless without the courses I have taken to learn it. Do you teach QuickBooks? This is the worst program I've ever used in my life. I am deeply sorry that I went ahead a couple months ago and bought this software. The program is not easy to use, and never updates my transactions successfully. I have spent hours trying to download my transactions and there's always one issue or the other. Moreover, I was sorely disappointed that in the end I would have to pay to use Bill Pay. The program is utterly worthless and had I known it earlier, I would have saved my money and made better use of it and my time by doing my accounts the old-fashioned way!

I like the things that Quicken does, I just have a hard time figuring out how to do them. I need a "Quicken for dummies" book to go along with it!

I had been a user of the PC version of Quicken for years. This was the only program left that I was still using on the PC as I've been trying to avoid putting windows on my MACBook for just one or two programs. Although there were a lot of negative reviews I went ahead and decided to try it. I have not been disappointed. I followed the directions for transfering my files and everything came over to the MAC seamlessly. I don't put investments on it, but I have all my checking, savings, credit cards, and loans on it. I had everything over in a matter of moments and was able to start inputing new information on the MAC right away. I have had pretty good experiences with the Quicken Premier itself, but I had a very bad experience when I signed-up for Quicken Online Backup. I paid the $[...] and went through the installation procedure, but when I tried to use it, it came up with an error saying: "LA107: Bad Pathname () Contact Customer Support at http://...." I went through the customer support pages, and their robotic customer support algorithm comes up with an answer that totally does not solve the problem. The only option they give me is to do a live chat for... $[...] per session (for the $[....] product that never worked). It's a great product and I like the new design and would recommend it to anyone looking for there first finance software. If you are already using a version of Quickbooks make sure it can be converted & opened in the new software. It boasts being able to share with a PC and a Mac, old versions of Quickbooks Mac and even able to open a previous file from Quicken. However, I got stuck in the void. Attempting to open an older PC Quickbooks file (by old I mean the 2006 version) and it could not open it. After further looking into it, the only way to make it work is to find some running the 2008 Quickbooks PC (and convert my old file to 2008 and then to Mac) or find someone running an older version of Quickbooks Mac or of course buying the new PC version as well. I use this every year and so far I have reason to switch. Plus if you use this product in back to back years it fills in all you information from memory. My tax situation is not all that complex so I can't say if it really gets all the deductions or not nevertheless I think its a quality product.

I used Quicken for about 10 years. I switched to MS Money in 2004. I loved Money 2004 compared to older Quicken. I decided to upgrade to Money Plus so I could keep online updates working. Bottom line - both Quicken and Money get the job done - with a lot of frustration and questionable business practices. I would say that I don't have a choice - but I guess I do - I just prefer the advanced feature set more than I hate their corporate shenanigans, for now. Key notes on this new version: - Yes, it seems to take forever to complete an update. It isn't doing anything either - no CPU usage, no network traffic, nada. This is lame. I had the 2000 version. I only use Money to keep up with my checking account and to allow my children to learn budgeting by having their own accounts. This version is easier to move around in and is very helpful to clear up things when I go in the wrong direction.

I have been using TurboTax since it first came out. This was the first time I ever used it for my business. It saved me a ton and I also purchased the optional audit defense. I submitted my tax return with complete confidence.
