I have had this projector for well over a year now. It is absolutely wonderful! I use it for movies occasionally, but it's primary function is to be dragged all over town for people to play Halo on. It may visit 3 or 4 different places on a weekend (360 over one shoulder, projector over the other!) and there has never been any problems. Works great, picture is awesome, sound is excellent - better if you plug in speakers but certainly workable without.

My only problem is that without the remote you can't seem to access volume (and some other useful functions) outside of DVD mode, and this creates serious annoyances when using it with something like a game system (or trying to turn on captions in DVD mode, etc). The remote went missing during my last move and Optoma wants to charge ... Read More

We love our new Optoma projector! After purchasing a Playstation 3 we were looking to move up from a 720i to a 1080i projector. This projector has the following upgrades from our previous projector - 1080i, quieter fan, no pushing the auto image button when moving from regular to high definition channels, and room darkening not necessary to have a great picture.

Projector arrived on time and in excellent condition. This model does not have an automatic/remote focusing feature, which means the operator must adjust focus manually at projector. There is, however, a corded remote slide advancer. Apart from these model shortcomigs, this projector is easy-to-use and reliable, just as we have come to expect Kodak carousels to be.

This line of projectors seem to have a fundamental design flaw that needs to be addressed in a recall by InFocus. There is a very small mirror tunnel behind the color wheel (looks like a long prism) that often fails as it is very fragile. This tunnel concentrates and channels the light to the DLP chip and if it collapses it can cause a dark (not black) band to appear at the left/right 1/10 portion of the screen. This band gets wider with time.

The reason is that the glue connecting the four rectangular mirrors of the mirror tunnel peel from the heat; in my projector, one of the mirrors had slipped and fallen in.

Otherwise a fine projector! If only inFocus would replace these defective mirror tunnels!
