I use these on a Manfrotto 055XProB tripod. They are a little difficult to install, but once you get then on there, they look and feel great. The fit is perfect. I'd say it is a good thing to have. Tripods aren't cheep so might as well protect your investment.

The padded case is very high quality and has protected the tripod well. I have another tripod that has had the shoulder straps break off, not with the case that came with this tripod. The tripod itself is very sturdy and is of a decent height. There were some situations where it felt a little too short, but I do not think that the 351mvb2 legs were meant for height. This tripod is definitely not a lightweight. For those who need to pick up and run with the tripod, then be sure that you can handle it. My finacee was used to the cheaper sunpak-type tripods and could not handle the weight. If you are more stationary (theatre events or use a different stabalization system for on the run) then this tripod works great.

O.K. let me start with saying that this is a great monopod and I would give it high marks. It is lightweight and easy to keep in the trunk and carry with you on a walk unlike a bulky tripod. The only complaint I have is the magnetic mount system. It should work fine if you are always aware of what you are doing. That said, I have on a number of occasions put a fairly heavy D2X on the monopod without making sure that I had the lock down clip secured properly. Camera hits concrete. Yikes! Even if you are following the procedures and checking and double checking, watch out. I have been surpised at how much effort is occasionally required to remove the camera and by applying too much force I have knocked the camera off unexpectedly. Camera hits concrete again! Yikes X2! This is a solid tripod with a lot of versatility. The ability to swing the column to a horizontal position is very helpful for macros. The tripod is fairly heavy, but with the weight comes excellent performance. I'm pleased with the purchase.

EDIT (2006-03-26): After a couple more weeks, I have to downgrade this to 1 star. As noted below, this is a headless 'pod and your camera attaches directly to the unit. Friction is what holds the two together and so the two have to be screwed together firmly. The problem is this: the screw on the 'pod is a bit less than 1/4" long (4mm actually). This isn't long enough to get a solid connection with my camera (Olympus SP-500UZ) and the threads on the camera socket have been stripped by tightening the pod/camera connection. I can no longer use this 'pod with my camera. If your camera can handle the short screw, this is a 5-star monopod. Otherwise it's not usable; 1-star (and don't bother buying it).
