When considering buying this product, cost in the accessories you might (very well) need, especially as the helmet mount is really a stick-once permanent fixture. The camcorder comes with only a 1GB MicroSD card, but will take up to 2GB. If you want to read directly from this card, which may be more convenient than connecting the camcorder itself, you will need an adaptor to take the smaller card size. The USB lead is short. I have a powered USB hub on my desktop, so a short lead is ideal for me - a longer one would only get in the way. Your setup may be different - for example, a tower unit on the floor - and the short lead may be an inconvenience. I have owned the iSonic HD665 Snapbox for about four days. I am writing this to make some information available for others considering a purchase. The native resolution of the image sensor is 5 mega pixels. The video codec is a 'MPEG-4 AVC (H .264)'. The microphone is mounted on top of the device so it will pick up the camera operator's voice way louder than that of someone in front of the camera at an equal distance. For still pictures, The camera allows you to select from 2MP(1600x1200), 5MP (2592x1944), and 11MP (3744x2808) resolutions. The last setting is just a 'blow up' of the native resolution. I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw the very favorable images from this inexpensive video camera. Granted, it is quite small and sometimes it is difficult for senior hands and fingers like mine to manipulate. On the plus side the small size makes it so easy to tuck in a pocket and have it ready to use on a moment's notice. Another plus is the camera uses SD memory cards rather than tapes; you can run over an hour of video, or several hundred still images, on a 2 gig card. There's only a built-in mic, so the audio is so-so; you need to be quite near the audio source for decent results.

It is both easy to use and very compact, so easy a child could operate. Besides being great for video it takes pretty nice still photos. With the fold out display monitor you can easily take pictures of yourself and a friend without being behind the camera.

I received one of these as a promotional. Functionally, it was totally cool. I dropped it. It broke. Done. It was a small drop. The type of drop my regular camera has experienced multiple times. The type my mobile phone has experienced multiple times. Etc. Nope. Dead. If you do buy one, buy yourself a case for padding - but the plastic is pretty thin stuff. Or buy yourself a camera that can do all these things and not break after a little wear and tear.
