Got two of these last christmas for my kids. Ended up paying around $50 each with discounts I had. For my kids age 8 and 14 these have been great. They love to make stop motion movies. It was well worth the money. And they've used them almost everday since christmas.Only had one problem and that was a knob fell off after my son dropped his but it still works. They may drop the price on them like they did last christmas, if they do snap one up for your kid.

Camera works ok, although no bells and whistles. The add made no mention of needing corner store disposible non-recharging batteries, which was somewhat subjective since most would assume a video camera would have electric plug and or rechargeable batteries. Good gift for a small child only.

Recently purchased this camera before leaving to meet our Italian relatives for the first time in Italy. What a nightmare! The camera would not, no way, initialize the discs that were recommended for purchase with the camera. Very disappointed not to have had a video memento of a trip we had planned for many years. We purchased a battery charger and an additional battery for this camera, and now cannot return it. A lot of money wasted, although we did receive a refund for the camera itself. I'm giving this a one star rating only because I can't leave no stars! Buyer beware.

I 've read a lot of reviews before purchasing this camcorder. Excellent video in sun light, even overall it 's a little bit yellowish to my taste. Amazon is best price, and they refund me the difference when the price went lower in within 30 days after purchase. Low light is OK. and I found it better than the JVC HD camcorder that my brother has. Extremely low light is not acceptable. I do not have time to test the 5.1 audio on my NAD receiver. Insert the SD card in to a playstation 3 SD slot and there you go. Or copy the files to a DVD and watch it thru the PS3 bluray drive. HD resolution! Go for it! Small size and picture quality will make you happy.

Up until this camcorder I was recording off of the HDV format. With the emergence of Blue-Ray as the winner of the HD war, I decided to switch. The second one arrived in great condition (except for a tattered box) with all parts accounted for. Great Camcorder. Easy to use with wonderful picture quality as well. The only thing I have a problem with is the editing software. I have no problems transferring directly to a DVD but if I want to edit and then write it to a DVD, I have problems playing the DVD. Otherwise, a great camcorder.

For all you Mac and Quicktime lovers out there: BEWARE! This camera creates a different type of file that cannot be read by Quicktime. What's worse is the JVC offers no software for Macs or any sort of converter program. Wow, you pay $500 for a cam from a multi-billion dollar company like JVC and they don't bother to help you!!! Fortunately there is a free program called "MPEG Steamclip" that can export the files to something Quicktime will understand, however very time consuming.

This little digital camera, video/audio recorder, MP3 player is a compact, lightweight piece of equipment to take on trips or any type of traveling. It's value makes it expendable should you lose it;it get stolen or damaged in transit. I was amazed at the quality of the voice recording I took while on a tour bus in Jamaica of the tour guide telling a joke. The only thing I miss on this Aiptek model is the extra video recording light that was on an earlier version.

I've always been satisfied with JCV products and this is no exception. The sound and picture are excellent and the zoom is great! I know that digital is the way most people are going, but the tapes are inexpensive and easy to use and I like the idea of having everything on tape. The camera connects to the computer easily and the uploads are very simple. On top of everything else, the quality is high and the price is low. In fact, this is one of the most inexpensive video cameras on Amazon! Great buy!
