Before I purchased this camera I had read lots of reviews on other DSLR cameras in the $500 price bracket. On the day of purchasing the A200 I had actually chosen the Pentax K200D as the reviews for that camera were slightly more positive. However if you're like me then you'll want the biggest bang for your buck and since Amazon is selling the A200 with both the kit 70mm lens and the 300mm lens for only $549 this to me was absolutely the best offer. First of all the build on this camera is pretty solid. Some reviews said it was too plasticky but I think it's a pretty solid unit. This is my 3rd camera in the last 6 years and by far this is the worst experience. The focus is not reliable. The usage is not intuitive. The redeye reduction barely works. The eyes in the picture look glazed. I used this for my daughter's fifth birthday and I luckly also had a Cannon video camera taking shots. If I just relied on this camera, it would have been a disaster!

So far this camera has outstripped my talents, however I am learning more each day I use it. This camera has many capabilities I have yet to experiment with, however it is also relatively easy to use for general picture taking for an the inexperienced. What I am saying is if you are new but serious about learning SLR photography this camera is for you. It will take you from the simpilist full auto point and shoot to features only a pro would use. Bravo Nikon!!

So I began shooting with a Canon Rebel. I moved onto digital with the Canon Powershot S3 - which I loved - until the LCD screen cracked. I toyed with idea of the Canon Powershot S5, but when I saw the Lumix, I balked. I really wanted a pocket camera. The others were fabulous, but just too chunky. You need to set camera to auto or a HIGH ISO to not get blurry pictures. If you had yours set to a low ISO--you will get blurry pictures_so you got what you set the camera for. Should have set it on smart scene select.
