I bought this camera about 15 days back. I have used it a couple of times indoors, outdoors and indoors with low-light conditions. Used correctly, this camera does a great job of taking good quality images. I had to play with the camera for about 15-20 mins to get familiar with it so I could take the best pictures possible. My sister owned a Powershot A530 before this one and i had the same experience with that too. This camera fits nicely in your jeans pocket and is quite light. You will need a tripod to take good low-light shots. I have a cat and a rabbit and a 3 yr old nephew - The kids and pets setting really works well to take pictures of them. The 24-105 f.4 L (my first "L" lens) was just what I was needing to replace my 5 year old Canon 28-135 that was starting to make strange noises. First thing I did wass shoot a series of exposures using my 40D, shooting from a tripod using each of the lens' marked apertures and focal lenghts. My test target was a sheet of newspaper stretched tightly on a wall. I was very impressed with almost every image when viewed at 100%. All I saw that I didn't really like was a little corner softness with the lens wide open at around 70mm. This lens is tack sharp for the most part, but bit heavy and could have been another stop faster considering its hefty price! The write on screen is perfect for enhancing Native American rock art pictures on site. Often very faded rock art turns out to be a picture of a rock unless you are on site and can see the faint outlines which you can then mark on the picture. Bet they didn't think of this use! NOw how about a bigger lcd?

Small enough to fit in my pocket, however, after 1 week, the screen got a hairline fracture. Even with the pointer pen, screen easily stores fingerprints. Buttons are hard to push with pointer, and navigating is not easy. The flash is VERY Bright (blinding - the kids no longer enjoy having their picture taken), and I have not figured out how to soften it. I have read the manual cover to cover and still have difficults getting the performance I need. First batch of pictures were VERY Grainy (my old Kodak 3.1MP camera took clearer images). Sony replaced the screen quickly, which was very nice. Perhaps I just need to get acclimated with it more.

Has incredible features for small camera. Took a while to learn most of features but very easy to use (touch screen) Wife loves it. Thin, fits in handbag nicely. good zoom range, clear well exposed pictures

After much research and pavement pounding I recently decided to buy a Nikon P60. I have had no regrets on buying this fine camera and it does 95% of what I need a camera to do. On macro work the camera is quite good as I have taken a number of very good closeups of flowers, insects, and other small things like bare microchips. Hard to find fault here except on some subjects I've had to take two or three shots to get a good one. This is my first digicam and so I'm a novice and loving this camera. At it's easiest, you can trust Intelligent Auto Mode to take a great picture most of the time. But it's also very user-friendly and I'm quickly learning to go beyond the basic settings and play with other modes, functions and settings. The shots are great quality and look fabulous online or printed. The instruction manual is very easy to follow and learn from when you are ready to get into some more advanced operations. I would highly recommend this camera as a tool for beginners that are interested in starting with something not overly complicated, but that also offers the capacity to learn and grow.
