I brought this camera for my first trip to London this past October. I am not a picture taking person, but I wanted to document my first trip to the United Kingdom. Trust me, I barely knew what I was doing as I didn't do more than skim through the owners manual (a mistake). However, all of my pictures came out wonderfully. I mean they are lead crystal clear. Even blown up on my laptop, they retain their sharpness. I took many shots of London's famous double deck buses while moving to see which ones would be keepers. All shots of the buses are as if they are frozen sharply in place. I had it set on auto for most of my trip. All of my pictures are out door shots, from early morning to mid evening. I have been using this camera for over 6 months now, and it takes fantastic photos. The automatic options for various "Scenes" (Landscape, Museum, etc.) do a great job of automatically changing the settings depending on your situation. Once you master those options, you'll end up with some awesome shots. My friends can't believe that some of the pics I've shared with them were taken with a point and shoot digital cam. I took a load of photos with the 70-300 Zuiko lens... and I am very happy with the outcome. Of course, like any telephoto it is a light lover and works best in bright sunlight. Thanks to this powerful telephoto I photographed a very interesting new world of distant objects and creatures. Above 200mm it really prefers a tripod or something to steady the camera. Overall, for the money it is fine-- real bargain.

Small size, waterproof to 10 feet, dust resistant, relatively easy to operate. All in all a good buy for outdoor activity. Extensive menu for different operations is a bit of a time sink to learn but many options make for better flexibility after going up the learning curve.

I love, love, love this lens. It's a bit long so it's not ideal for a walk around lens...but MAN, oh man does it capture some amazing shots. I first tried it out on a windy day at the lake with my nieces and nephews and caught some absolutely amazing shots. The clarity of the images even at full zoom is incredible, and don't even get me started on the bokeh! It is just a wonderful lens...now if Canon would only make it a bit more squat, it would be perfect!!

Small enough to fit in my pocket, however, after 1 week, the screen got a hairline fracture. Even with the pointer pen, screen easily stores fingerprints. Buttons are hard to push with pointer, and navigating is not easy. The flash is VERY Bright (blinding - the kids no longer enjoy having their picture taken), and I have not figured out how to soften it. I have read the manual cover to cover and still have difficults getting the performance I need. First batch of pictures were VERY Grainy (my old Kodak 3.1MP camera took clearer images). Sony replaced the screen quickly, which was very nice. Perhaps I just need to get acclimated with it more.

This is a good small point and shoot camera for the price. It is easy to use, has a very clear menu, and a very large LCD display. If you are looking for a 5X zoom with simple menus and an extra big display, this is a great deal. The downside with this camera is that the picture quality is not as good as more expensive cameras, and it does not do well in low light situations. The flash has an effective range of 9.8 feet. Beyond that range the picture will have poor focus or lots of digital noise. It says it can do 1600 and 3200 ISO, but the quality goes down in those situations. The manual says that even in 10 MB Fine mode (highest resolution) they don't recommend enlarging beyond 8 x 12 prints (which was the limitation of my last 3MP Olympus camera). Nice camera for the price. I like the auto smile feature. Lightweight and easy to use. Able to recover photos after they have been deleted. Would recommend this camera. I bought 2 of them. A pink one for my daughter and a blue one for my son. They both enjoy using these cameras.

Purchased June 24, 2008 A little disappointed so far. The lens creep is more like a lens drop! The outside shots are very good for the most part (how much is me or the lens!) I have some beautiful shots of weddings and outdoor events on bright days, but hit and miss indoors. Autofocus not quick indoors and I had expected more from the IS feature. In a brightly lit gymnasium, the shots were very dull and lifeless and I was unable to get anything good with movement of the subject. Wish I had had my 1.8 50mm Canon for that event! I will probably sell and look for something else.
