Canon PowerShot A560 7.1MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom ( I think this is the one) I returned it as I didn't like it at all. It seems very cheaply made and had AA Batteries, which I also didn't like.

A very nice telephoto zoom, but a bit lacking in light gathering since the lowest f number is 4. Just getting started using it and have some excellent fall pictures.

On the surface, the FX500 seems like an almost ideal point and shoot digital camera with a good balance of pocketability and breadth of function for both novice and more advanced users but it has a significant achilles heel that shouldn't be ignored. The noise levels on photos in even lightly shaded\darkened conditions are horrendous. I have a 3 yr old point and shoot digital camera that handles such conditions significantly better. Details just get blown out and I can't imagine prints ever being worth the time. I had seen complaints online about the noise but after viewing photos taken by other FX500 owners online which didn't display much noise, I thought this was an issue that could be managed through learning to use the camera, much as with other cameras I've had before this. This replaced my Olympus Stylus 710 that was dropped 1 too many times in the 2.5 years I owned it. During those 2.5 years it had traveled all over North American and to 3 other continents and served me very well. Very small, very easy to use, tons of features and settings yet easy to just point and shoot (which is largely how I use it). The benefits of the Stylus 840 over the older camera are more optical zoom, larger lcd, and more megapixels (though for my purposes, ~6 MP is more than enough; picts with this at the highest setting are close to 2MB). Panasonic DMC-FX37A 10.1MP Digital Camera I haven't done any extensive testing of this camera, but everything seems fine. This is similar to my Panasonic DMC-TZ3, with less Zoom (5x) but more memory. The DMC-FX37A is quite slim and the battery charger is small, so it is very handy for travelling. I've used it for candle light photos (with and without the 'candle light scene' exposure preset. Not sure which I prefer - I edit my photos in Paint Shop Pro anyway. I did get some usable photos under very low light conditions. The extra wide angle is very handy for situations where you can't back up any further. I haven't used the movie mode yet. So, I would recommend either the DMC-FX37A 10.1MP, or the DMC-TZ series. The latter is a bit larger with 10x zoom. Both have good lenses (Leica).

I had resigned myself to having to spend $600 or so to get a camera to record HD video with my son. When I saw the DXG for about $200 (I got it for $199 at B&H) I thought I'd give it a try (the reviews elsewhere are better than here). If you go in expecting flawless 3CCD quality 1080p video from this camera, then move along, the key is value for the dollar. My one criticism is that the anti-shake feature is not available in 1080p mode, effectively making 1080p a tripod-only affair. However, in 780p mode the camera shoots very good video, even in low light (it gets grainy in near-darkness, but that seems typical). This camera is one of the best you can find for the price. It's small enough to fit in your pocket easy and it is an amazing camera dont be fooled this camera is solid i have NO regrets for getting this camera the only problem is it doesnt come with a memory card and apparently psp memory cards will not work (in case you didnt know) but other than that this camera is perfect for a CASUAL picture taker dont take pictures constantly then be mad if you want something to make a great myspace pic or even more this is the camera to go. 5/5

Nice camera. The only problem is that Canon won't back up their products. The zoom doesn't work all the time after less than a years use. Canon said send it back but we'll charge you to check it...not very impressive!
