The camera would not work and then I realized it was because the battery was not charging. When I contacted the seller, they told me the battery did not work and that I had to buy a new one. Why sell me a camera with a non-functioning battery? They could have simply written in the description that a new battery would need to be bought. I would have never purchased it!

From my experience the sd870 takes great pics in almost all situations. It performs well with the Sandisk Extreme III 8gb card that I purchased with it. The thumb scroll feature has some "cool" factor to it, but I found it a little "finicky" and choose to turn that feature off and access the menu manually which is equally easy. This camera is fairly compact and light, battery life is better than a lot of its peers. It has all the manual adjustments that I prefer, which aren't alot. I use the white balance adjustment sometimes for sun/snow shots. The only things that I would change are the following: 1. Metal housing is easily scratched 2. I would prefer waterproof/dustproof All in all, I really like this camera and have no regrets after owning it for a year.

I am so pleased with this camera. Be sure to read every page of the manual and go through the features. The manual is well written and easy, but if you don't learn what the camera can do you will miss out. Fantastic price. Obviously GE wanted to sell some cameras at this point in time so they put a real goodie on the market for a good price. I'm so happy with this. I originally wanted the silver tone, but right now they are doing all the best sales on the black tone which is beautiful; it's only that I feared that the black my eventually scratch. So what. Buyer beware I ordered this camera based on the reviews however, I found the camera to be less user friendly than the Pentax camera I previously owned. I decided to return the camera but after talking with customer service found that it would cost me $29.00. $20.00 toward restocking and $9.00 to ship my 1pd camera. now I agree the return cost should be mine but give me a break 6ave is just trying to make certain the consumer will keep the camera based on the financial penalty if what your purchase doesn't fit your needs. I'd go through someone else unless your 100% sure of your purchase.

I've had the camera for about 3 months now, and overall it's been great. I particularly love the 'double flower' mode that gets me to the short hair. I take some pictures of small machinery, like phone parts, and electronic gadgets, and the double flower mode gets me in there just fine. On the down side, i find that occasionally, the focus seems to be just bad. I think i am not giving it enuf time to think, but even when i give it time, it just blows the focus entirely. Since i have lots of memory (4 gigs), my answer to this is simply to take multiple shots of the same item. Battery time tween charges seems a bit short, but not impossible. Takes the best pictures I've ever seen on a digital camera. Pictures are sharp and bright. An amazing product. Few drawbacks however as nothing is perfect although this one comes pretty close. Power plug is NOT included with the product; have to purchase that separately. Also, the power button is fairly weak and feels like it could fail any minute.
