I have a DSLR and lenses, and a Canon S3 IS ultra-zoom. I wanted a small pocketable point-and-shoot for those occasions where I did not want to lug the other gear. It was a toss-up between this and a Panasonic LZ8, and a Nikon S550. The Nikon did not have optical image stabilization, and the Panny was a bit bulgy due to the AA batteries. I pre-ordered this camera and was so excited to receive it! I already own a Kodak easyshare Z612 which takes beautiful, high detail photos at only 6 MP, but I was looking for a more "pocketable" camera because the sheer size of the z612 keeps me from taking my camera with me and taking as many photos as I'd like. So, I went with the M1063 because of it's slim design, it's array of features (scene selection, HD, etc.), upgrade in MP's, and it's PINK! When it finally arrived, I immediately started snapping away...only to find that on the on-camera screen, the pictures didn't look very sharp at all. I bought this camera for my girlfriend over a year ago. We used standard alkaline batteries, and literally after three to five flash pictures, the batteries were toasted. We assumed that we just got a dud camera, and it has sat unused for a year. I'm surprised we hadn't thrown it away. Then, after reading other reviews on this site, we got some Kodak 2500mAH rechargeable camera batteries and put them in this camera. IT'S WORKING GREAT NOW! Great pictures, and the camera is working with a battery life that you would expect. This is a great little camera, but you MUST use rechargeable batteries with a high capacity!

As a Sony advocate I applaud the Sony Alpha! Sharp pics! Flip screen is awesome! Move over Canon and Nikon ! I upgraded from a Sony F828 (which I still use! and it's in excellent like new condition and trouble free since the day it arrived). Sony stands behind their product! The only glitch with the alpha is the must purchase of a convertor which allows one to use MemorySticks. Personally, I feel that for the price of this camera Sony should include the adaptor.

I purchased this camera a week ago and the first day i got it, it worked pretty well and then once I had a handful of pictures on the camera I noticed the camera would freeze up when browsing and you would have to remove the battery to start the camera again. Then I tried a couple more times and if it didnt freeze the same pictures would say "File Error" and this actually happened with 20% of the pictures I had so i would be very cautious and think twice before going through with this purchase. The features and everything else was awesome but I just couldnt have a camera that would have errors on photos i had taken and force me to delete them as well as have the camera freeze up. So think twice before buying if you want to take the risk of getting the same problems as I did

this is a great camera. my first digital was also a fuji. my son is using it now. 2 other digital cameras I have had are trash. lasted 1>2 years and died. purchased one for a co-worker, for her son @ work, and he says it is great. battery life is very good, second battery is a good idea though, no loss of picture time that way. have taken several videos with it in Vegas, they came out very good.
