Negative: shutter lag is pretty serious, but if you have the right settings, it gets better. Takes some time to figure out. Also it appears to be better when more memory is available. Positive: durability! I agree that the durability of this camera is nothing short of incredible. This camera can really be handled roughly, which is great. I took it on our honeymoon, snorkeling and had NO problems like the ones stated in the previous reviews. it was in the water for hours at a time, on the beach and jostled around in my beach bag and each time came out fighting. The FS3 is an easy to use camera. It has a lot of presets ( scene modes ) covering most of the real-world situations which leaves no need to have a manual mode. Overall quality picture is very good for a "pocket-size" camera. If you are looking for an versatile point-and-shoot camera, this is the one for you.

We bought this as a replacement for an older version that didn't survive a dip in the sink (it was actually our fault and not the kids'!). I didn't want a camera with too many buttons and functions, as I use it to take pics of the kids and need to point and shoot quickly before I lose the shot. I haven't had any issues with the camera. It's worked wonderfully from day one. The change from replacing batteries to re-charging it was a great new feature, as was the simplification of the wheel (though I see they've gotten rid of it completely on the newest version). We're considdering this for a gift for my mil, who is hopelessly stuck on her film camera and has minimal computer skills. This camera was bought on Black Friday. It came with a free printer and I thought it would be a good camera for 9 Megapixels. Turns out it was a big waste of money and I ended up returning it. Pictures are very good quality, but FORGET about the video function. IT SUCKS! The video quality is probably as bad as a video phone. The only way you can make it be like a normal video camera is to adjust the video resolution but then that takes away how good the actual quality of the video is, but it records more frames per second. If you want a camera for taking pictures, then this is not a bad camera. But if you want a digital camera for taking video then stay away from this camera at all costs.

For what you features you get, you simply cannot beat the price for an entry level DSLR camera. You may have looked at the XSI (as I have) and have been tempted to put forth the extra $100 or so to get that one. My 3 year old son broke my sony digital camera while I had dozed off. His dad bought me this one after I had read several reviews and shopped around. Shipping was super fast and the price couldnt be beat. We have a 3 month old at home and didnt want to miss any photo ops. Takes great pics, but so far doesnt perform too well in low or no light (no night setting). Other than that I am very pleased. It takes faster pics than my Sony did and the accessories are cheaper. At the price I paid I wont be crushed if something happens to this one. It has a great slideshow feature with music-great for dinner parties etc.
