I was a bit wary about buying this camera because of the conflicting reviews that I read. But I decided to take a plunge because it looked really good and the pink color was just amazing. Anyway, this camera did not disappoint me. I loved the big screen, the big internal memory, and how user friendly it is. I never had to refer to the manual to know how to basically operate the camera. THe picture quality was also okay, just the way I expected it from a point and shoot camera. I loved the extra fun stuff in the camera: the in-cam retouch and painting, the cute borders, and how one can remove red eyes in the camera itself. Overall, as a beginner, I would say that this camera is excellent. I highly recommend it to beginners like myself.

I actually have a different model, the 6.0 MP version purchased 2 1/2 years ago. But it looks exactly the same, so the mechanicals are probably the same. It was a great little camera while it lasted. Great pictures and great battery life. And as far I'm concerned, 6 MP is all I (and probably most people) really need. After exactly 12 mos the rotary function switch started to act up, switching between adjacent modes unless I kept pressure on it with my finger. It got worse with time. Then I had the apparently common "stuck lens problem"; the fix is to bang it on the table, which worked. Then, last week, the shutter button broke off while it was in my wifes purse. So I'm in the market for a new camera; it won't be another Sony.

Works pretty fine. You con have the hot dogs ready in less than 10 minutes. It came without the red plastic cover of the "on" led. I suggest to buy this product only if you are thinking of using it just at home. Its a good deal for the price.

Before I purchased this camera I had read lots of reviews on other DSLR cameras in the $500 price bracket. On the day of purchasing the A200 I had actually chosen the Pentax K200D as the reviews for that camera were slightly more positive. However if you're like me then you'll want the biggest bang for your buck and since Amazon is selling the A200 with both the kit 70mm lens and the 300mm lens for only $549 this to me was absolutely the best offer. First of all the build on this camera is pretty solid. Some reviews said it was too plasticky but I think it's a pretty solid unit. The kits lens don't have that nice solid, rubbery grip like more expensive lenses but for starting out they are absolutely fine. I bought this unit since I recently purchased a HDR SR11 hard drive camcorder. My wife and I spend a lot of time taking video of horses in horse shows. I have a regular professional camera with all the bells and whistles; however, she was having to spend hours holding the camcorder. This tripod works great with the AV connector...its made for it. The selling point was the built-in remote control. It has variable speeds and works ABSOLUTELY great. The price is well worth it because I do not have to hear my poor wife complaining of back aches; and by the way the videos are less shaky....She is a tall girl so the high of the tripod falls a bit short. However, you can elevate it and place masking tape on it to hold its extended position....results....great video.
