I have been experimenting with a few low-end security cameras. This is the most expensive camera I have tried, and also the best. It has a very sharp image during the day, and is also surprisingly sharp at night. At night it suffers some from glare on the lens caused by the numerous infrared LEDs. But still, the LEDs provide a lot of illumination which overall is a good thing. This camera is definitely a step up from the SVAT CV31 Hi-Res Outdoor CCD camera. It is both significantly sharper during the day, and significantly brighter at night. Also, it does not suffer from the pinkish cast I sometimes see in the SVAT image during the day. This 100 foot cable is extremely thin and cheap. I bought 3 of these extensions to work with the Q-See-QSD6204-250 and 3 Q-See QSC48030 High Resolution Weatherproof CCD Camera. Out of the box 1 of the 3 100 foot cables were bad and as of the date of typing this review, 2 of the 3 60 foot cables that came with the cameras were bad. The following is a quote from my review of the cameras, but because the cables are the same, and I had the same problems with both sizes, it is necessary to include it. Ok, I just picked this up recently from amazon and used it with a KPC-EX230HL camera and it works really well. Both that camera and this DVR card are better than expected. Yes, the DVR software is a bit 'basic', but not buggy ... and works out of the box and does all that is needed. It would be nice if the motion sensing logic was adjustable, but it works well and using the mpeg4 format ... the size of the recorded videos are very small ... so it record a lot a not consume so much hard disk. I'm running on only 20GB of space (older computer), but it seems like plenty. This is a lot of capability for the money, runs on slower computers and doesn't seem to load the system down much if at all. Just remember the 30fps is shared between all cameras, so if you want 30fps for all cameras, get one of these ... Read More

Am using the Q-See PCI DVR card with an HP computer that is dedicated to home phone (VoIp), Skylink Security system and the Q-See 4 channel card for surveillance cameras. The card installed with ease and has met expectations. It allowed me to keep from buying a dedicated DVR and use a computer I had around the house (Windows XP OS, 2.7 gig single processor, 2 gig ram, 320 external USB hard drive that offers ample storage for 4 cameras). The software running the card allows for motion detection and 1, 2 or 4 split screen mode. For the pricing of these cameras I expected a little better picture. The overall picture is good, Night vision alright, but when it comes to details you can not even read a car plate 10 ft away. The motion sensor in this carmera works good also. I did try the lower priced camera(One Step Down) and did not like the picture at all. I wired and ran 8 cameras to my main computer using a Q-See PCI-E Card. After reseachering, to my amazement, that for the money this setup/cameras works good for home or business.

I gave it 1 star for price & features, but unfortunately the motion detect did not work nor did external triggering. Customer service did not respond to email after a week & got no response to date with the online RMA process on the Q-See site. I sent the DVR back to Amazon for a refund and am looking for a different brand. Hopefully the 4 Q-See cameras I also bought continue to work since dealing with Q-See would be useless.

For the vast majority of my purchases from Amazon they have been nothing short of sterling . . . .this purchase unfortunately was the exception - purchased this along with 6 other CCD security cameras along with two DVR . . . . . did not open this box until almost three weeks later as I was installing cameras one at a time . . . . guess what ?? No bracket or hardware !!! and the box was sealed . . . . . I know Q-see makes a good product . . . but quality control on ensuring what they state us in the box . . . is ACTUALLY in the box . . . . . contacted Amazon . . . . . more to follow . . . .as I see how Amazon handles the missing parts !!

Purchased three of these cameras from Amazon for indoor use. Camera quality is quite dissapointing. The video extension cable is garbage and totally unsheilded, I was actually picking up radio stations using the cable that came with the camera, not to mention the horrible picture. If you do purchase this camera, be sure to buy or make up your own video cable...

I have to rate this camera as an okay value. The good news is its easy to set up and use, and worked as advertised out of the box. The bad news: the picture washes out in direct sunlight and the colors also tend to wash out badly unless the lighting is just right. I also wish the cord was a lot longer, especially for the wall plug. That said I'm not unhappy with this purchase, it does what it is supposed to do at a good price once you get it all set-up and adjusted. For comparison I would say the picture is not as good as my hi-8 video camera, but still pretty good once adjusted, although pretty awful if in less than ideal conditions. Also doesn't work at all at night. Picture would make a pretty good daylight security camera. The mic works but tends to crack if sounds are too loud etc. overall an okay value for the money.
