This lens is a newer version of the standard kit lens that comes with E-series Olympus digital SLRs. It is about 1/3 smaller in length and girth and weight than the 14-45 lens. It has the same apertures (3.5-5.6) as the old one but focuses a little closer. The first thing I noticed is that manual focusing is quicker, quieter and more positive than the old one. It has the feel of a "good old" prime lens when focusing manually. The smaller size really helps it fit in my bag better; the lighter weight makes carrying the camera (E-330) much easier. A fine point: Olympus now supplies a front-pinch type lens cap that makes it possible to remove and replace the cap with the lens hood in place. The only flaw in this camera is the hook for the battery compartment. It is fairly small and plastic, and it takes very little to make it useless. However, with that said.. the sliding action of the battery compartment cover still keeps the battery in and functioning. I was very pleased with the quality & relative simplicity of this camera, excepting the flaw noted above.

This camera is a great balance of high quality pictures, zoom, price, size, and durability. As seen in the pics at Disneyland and California Adventures, it takes excellent pictures that capture sharp details. The camera also suffered a drop during this trip, and the fall didn't phase it at all. Another selling point for me was that it's weather-proof and that a rechargeable battery is included. You don't have to worry about precipitation spoiling the camera or buying batteries/rechargeable battery kit. The only downside to this camera was that I had to buy the memory card separately (but that would have had to happen with any other camera, as I found in my research - I recommend the 2GB...nearly 500 pics on super high quality!). This camera is the total package and I highly recommend it!

I have had my e410 for a few days now. I read some different reviews on it. All of them had nothing but good things to say about this camera. With in a day I knew what all the settings are and how to use it all manually. At first I was scared that there was too much. I picked up the manual and looked it over. The manual is Great. It explains every thing from what SLR stand for to focusing. Very user friendly with your trusting manual by your side you will have it all figured out in a day. I love all the different settings to pick from. I love the size. Its small but light it fits well in my hands.
