This camera works great. After reading other reviews, I bought one and now I am regretting not buying more. I bought it last week at $120, now it is over $150, what is up with that? I am going to buy 3 more, but I might wait to see if the price goes down a little. Great picture day and night, decent mount and decent construction. I would recommend this camera to my friends.

I installed 3 Q-See QSC48030 surveillance cameras on the outside of my house. The first two installations went without a hitch (the cameras are great) using the provided 60 foot cables but the third camera needed an 80 foot cable so I purchased the 100 foot Q-See brand cable. After reading the comments in Amazon, I was not surprised to receive a white cable instead of a black one and really didn't care one way or the other. The cable came with two female-to-female adapters and a short (a few inches) power extension cable which I thought was a nice unexpected plus. Let me start by saying that I give this a Five Star rating based on performance-for-price; this product is not without its shortcomings. I have an Intel motherboard with an Intel CPU and everything works great for me. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-Bit. nVidia nForce chipset and nVidia 8800 GTS Graphics. I had lots of blue-screens when I first installed this card, but after updating the nForce drivers from nVidia's website everything has been great. (I have read that AMD users may have more issues.) A point that I want to make very clear is about the "30 FPS (frames per second)" of video capture; this card can, in fact, encode 30 frames per second of MPEG video, but it is divided amongst the 4 camera ports. The card installed with ease and has met expectations. It allowed me to keep from buying a dedicated DVR and use a computer I had around the house (Windows XP OS, 2.7 gig single processor, 2 gig ram, 320 external USB hard drive that offers ample storage for 4 cameras). The software running the card allows for motion detection and 1, 2 or 4 split screen mode. This is pricey, but compared to other products in this category it is not that bad. The DVR is the expensive part. I have to say that the DVR is feature-rich. Everything was plug-and-play. The mounting brackets for the cameras are top-notch. I was worried the wires would not be long enough for me to put cameras at each end of my house and still hook it up to the TV, but I had plenty of wire. My two complaints are (1) the remote control sometimes has problems. Thankfully, I do not use the remote very often. What it does is sometimes activates the controls of a nearby button. For example, pressing play will sometimes make the video fast forward instead. It seems to be ok if you press the buttons slowly and hard, but you shouldn't have to do that. It works. This isn't really high-end cable (go figure by the price), but you don't need to buy Monster cable to run a security camera. Just don't yank on the cable when fishing it into an attic space or the wall. You'll tear a cable.
