This battery is a must have item. I use my HF11 all the time to record and playback video. The battery that came with my HF11 is a joke. It sits in my case only as a backup, if I ever run out of juice with the 827. I would not worry a bit about it protruding out of the back of the camera a bit. In 10 seconds you won't remember and it's service is great. It will be the only battery you ever use. I only gave it 4 stars because the battery is expensive.

I got the Canon battery because it will activate the battery-usage indicator in the camera and it will be able to be recharged while attached to the camera. I think the knock-off brands, though cheaper, aren't capable of doing these things. Oh, it does increase shooting time by at least 2x. Some days are diamonds, the next days is coal. The battery charger is very useful, especially if you're in a hurry. I bought the Canon BP-819 battery and it took about 2 hours to charge which is quicker than using the camcorder to charge. There are only 2 issues that I have with the charger. 1. It gets really hot, so if you have children around becareful. 2. I think it is pricey for this charger. Wish Canon would include it with the camcorder but that is where Canon gets you to buy their product. Overall, good product. If you plan to be recording and you need a quick charge, this will be helpful.

I took two of these batteries with me on a recent trip to China - I always recharged them overnight and didn't have any situations during the day while site-seeing where I ran out of battery juice. I used them in a Canon HV30 video camera and they have more than enough juice for me to watch my 1 hour HD tapes on the plane flight back. :)

I own canon professional SLR's so I know from past experience Canon's policies about third party products that work with their stuff; they fight it tooth and nail and try to keep a monopoly on everything. My SLR's use the venerable 512 battery packs, fortunately somebody was able to reverse engineer those and sell them reasonably instead of the 80 plus dollars Canon wants for an original pack. Don't get me wrong, Canon makes good stuff they just have a really inflated view of what folks are able to pay for things if you ask me. I love my FS100 it's a great camcorder, well worth what I paid for it but the battery packages are outrageously priced for it. Great Battery. I bought a few of them since it only lasts for 80 minutes and the BP819 was not available & I was heading of for a cruise. Over the 2 weeks I discharged and recharged them a dozen times each, no problems. Handling the camera for about 4-5 hours each day, I was glad only the 809 was available. I am not sure if the larger size of the 819 would have made the camera handling as comfortable.

The filters work great with my camera. They appear to be of a high quality for the price. What else is there to say? I think they are worth the investment for the protection offered to my camcorder's lens. I have also been able to shoot some interesting footage using the neutral density filter.

It fits everything and protects it great. Not too big, not too small. Not too hard, not too soft. Just perfect for the HG10 and all of it's accessories (DM-50 microphone, tele & wide converters, extra lenses, all wires, charger, batteries and then some. GREAT bag.

I have several Canon products including many generations of compact cameras, SLR cameras (film and digital) and camcorders and always buy the Canon branded accompanied case or holder. With a lot of Canon history, this is by far the cheapest last minute thought out camera case made with the Canon badge on it. If you place anything small or loose in the case, you risk it falling out from the slots in the bottom of the case. The strap has decent clips that attach firmly to the case, but the strap itself is very thin and cheap. The construction of the case is just poor. The case is sized right to the Canon HF11 and supports the Extended battery BP-819 and thus does provide the necessary protection which seems to be the only criteria by Canon for this case.
