Got the camera to work by going to its address but the software can not find the camera which makes it useless. went to linksys web site which was not any help, do not have a week right now to see about getting the software to work right now. I will keep the camera but will not buy linksys again.

I bought this camera a little over a year ago and it has worked fine until recently it became unresponsive. The only beef I had with it was that it only supported WEP for wireless encryption which is older and less secure than WPA/WPA2. I would recommend looking for a different network camera as this one wont last long.

I bought a couple of these cameras to set up a home system and setup is a pain. Although overall nice cameras very buggy. I use a Linksys WRT600N router with TKIP and was able to set up one camera wireless with no problem. The other 2 to no avail. In the end the problem boiled down to shorten the security key to 8 spaces which was no problem with the first camera... Strange. If you like to tinker this is for you. MS

This Panasonic outdoor camera is a great little product. It is used outside our condo and it has operated in temperatures of -5 without any issues. An attached SD card allows many photos to be saved on a chip and the zoom lens allows us to see things pretty close. The only issue is finding a powered outdoor speaker for use with two-way communications. Panasonic wasn't able to provide a vendor and we haven't been able to find one on our own. Except for this issue the camera works as advertised.

I bought this camera after an incident at my house while I was at work. Luckily a neighbor witnessed the incident and helped me recover damages, but I realized that I needed something to watch over my property when I was not at home. This camera has proven to be a great match for my needs. I have it set up to record to my computer hard drive. It sends me email alerts when it detects motion in the covered video area, which is my driveway. I can easily review the video of anyone who drives down my driveway and what they do in front of my house. The video quality is great, you can read license plates very easily, and can take snapshots from the videos or export the files to avi format. I own my own business and got hired by a client who needed people who knew how to work security cameras. I didnt think it would be that hard. They needed security cameras for a national card game held 3x a year in different places all the time. They wanted us to watch or catch possible cheaters or disprove a cheater. I started out with 4 cameras.It was amazing. Loved how it could really zoom from far away and the picture quality. I could read people's suits in their cards from 100 feet away. The camera is a nice design, fair quality image and easy to set up. The enclosed web-based software from Dlink is nice and easy to handle and does the job cleanly and simply. Exactly what you want from a home or small office camera system to monitor activity. However, I purchased the cameras (2) because of the description of the IP security suite that was supposed to come with it, allowing 16 cameras to be monitored and recorded simultaneously. Rubbish....! The software was terrible and recording just one camera was a pain, then playing it back was even worse. It's hard to describe just how bad that software was. Cameras were nice though.

This isn't so much a review of the camera itself, as it is information on a way to resolve what I consider to be the camera's biggest downside (other cameras too!). This might get a little wordy though. In reading some of these reviews, I notice that a lot of people have trouble understanding Networking technology (BIG surprise), causing them to suffer through tech support calls. But, knowing even a few basics, can help avoid having to make that dreaded call... As most people now know, WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) is badly broken, and is only good for keeping honest people out of your WEP enabled network. The DCS-900W only supports WEP. The dome is excessively large and cumbersome compared to the camera. The power cable and adapter that came with it largely make the 110V power useless. considering that the main reason to purchase the dome is to mount the camera outside it would have been more reasonable to have the adapter built into the actual dome itself and then wire it up with the correct power cable direct from the mains. Instead they opted for a standard household adapter with a plug. I'm very disappointed with the quality and design of this product, not up to the usual standard from Dlink. For the price I would be better buying a new camera designed specifically for outdoor use. Don't buy this product you will regret it.
