I bought one of these to monior my house while on vacation. The reviews suggested that it was the best for the price. The set up was also supposed to be the easiest of the lot and it turned out to be relatively simple until I got to the internet set up. Using a Mac with a Time Capsule router was not the "easy as pie" operation that I had hoped for. It was more like French torte with cream and chocolate sauce. I began gathering the packing material for a return, and made the cursory call to tech support. I've never had good phone tech and did not expect anything different this time. I was wrong. Best ever. The guy walked me through the not-too-obvious steps and within less than an hour was up and running. The phone tech was worth the price of the product itself!

I highly recommend this camera WHEN YOU FACTOR IN THE COST. I have DSL (PPPoe)and according to some documentation with Panic-sonic, it does not like DSL. Have not had any problems at all. Maybe the firmware update and also I am using Cat6 ethernet cable...?

I own about 8 of these now and I'd rate it as a good value for the price. I'd like to see a more weatherproof/sturdy and longer cable, but you get what you pay for. The unit is quite large and bulky, but again, for the price and resolution, what would you expect? Good quality image, has good range in the dark and is a very fair value. If I needed more of them, I'd certainly buy them.-----Randy

I put a computer in the basement to use as a media source for my big LCD screen TV on the first floor. I was concerned that the signal from the switch wouldn't get through the aluminum vapor barrier in the insulation in the basement floor but I've used it for 2 weeks now and it's worked flawlessly. I'm very pleased. :)

This system suffers from extremely low quality video and sound. The video is frequently filled with enough static that it makes it difficult to see the baby. Second, the sound is also very low quality - this is over about a 30 foot transmission distance. Distances of 60 feet or so across the house render the unit unusable. Raising the sound level high enough enable hearing the baby noises brings with it an intolerable level of static. Furthermore, bursts of interference become headsplitting. These might be forgivable if the unit were very portable, but its not. The form factor is awkward and not very stable on a table. I did a fair amount of research before buying this camera, reading reviews, comparing specs, etc. I was fairly confident this was the best internet camera in my price range. I don't know whether or not that's true or if this camera is representative of security cams in general, but I do know I was not impressed by this camera on any level. Video quality is terrible. Awful in low light. Setup and configuration procedures are draconian. The motor is LOUD when you pan or tilt. It's entirely possible I'm being unfair. There are challenges for compressing and delivering video over wireless or ethernet. Sacrifices in image quality must be made to limit bandwidth. Awesome product. This was very easy to install and it works great. I have it running my waterfall and the electrical box is back behind the waterfall. It works from inside my house and makes it very convenient to turn it on and off. I just wish I could use one remote for 3 units so I could also hook it up to my lights in and around the waterfall.

I installed 3 Q-See QSC48030 surveillance cameras on the outside of my house. The first two installations went without a hitch (the cameras are great) using the provided 60 foot cables but the third camera needed an 80 foot cable so I purchased the 100 foot Q-See brand cable. After reading the comments in Amazon, I was not surprised to receive a white cable instead of a black one and really didn't care one way or the other. The cable came with two female-to-female adapters and a short (a few inches) power extension cable which I thought was a nice unexpected plus. Again because of reading the comments, I was extra careful in running the cable so as not to stress it and cause a break in the cable (the wires are very thin).
