I've owned a pair of Canon 10X30 image stablization binoculars for over a year now. Both the image clarity and the performance of the image stabilization are very good. These binoculars are not too heavy as well; however, you may consider replacing the included thin nylon Canon strap with either a neoprene strap from Op/Tech or a secured strap from Pacsafe. I have also recommended the 10X30 IS to a few friends who have either gone on to either purchase their own 10X30 IS or the 12X36 II.

This product is what I consider to be a great compromise of cost and features. While the Canon 8X25 IS was a little cheaper than the Canon 10X30, I preferred the fact that the 10X30 takes AA batteries instead of special lithium CR batteries like in the case of the 8X25. Of course if would ... Read More

While attending an astronomy club's night out, one of the members offered to show me a globular cluster using his image stabilized binoculars (brand unknown). As I brought the portion of sky into focus, I pressed the button and -- WOW! I could clearly see the cluster, not because it was highly magnified, but because my eyes had a chance to focus and process the image. Thoroughly impressed, I walked over to my wife and told her of the experience. A few weeks later, we had a pair of 12x36 Canons, and were counting the moons of Jupiter. My wife wanted her own pair so we would not have to readjust them when sharing. She complained about having to hold down the button all the time, something that I don't mind doing as I have long fingers. She also wanted a pair that would focus closer.

I've returned from a River Barge Excursion (8 days on the Ohio & Mississippi Rivers), and I used my Canon IS binoculars ALL the time. I purchased additional 123 Photo batteries, anticipating I would 'use up' the original battery from constant use, but so far haven't made a battery change.

I did manage to lose one of the eyepiece caps, and I plan to contact Canon to see if I can purchase a set of replacement caps. I also have / use a Canon Powershot S5 IS digital camera, and the lens cap is tethered to the neckstrap, which is a very convenient place to 'put' the lens cap while using the camera. I would like to see Canon design a similar 'tethering' for their binocular eyepiece caps.

We use these mostly for viewing the night sky...lately Jupiter and it's moons, which are visible with these binoculars. The only thing I don't like about them is that they are a little heavy for me to hold up for any length of time but my husband has no complaints.

I have recently purchased the Canon IS 15x50 binoculars for backyard astronomy. I wanted enough "power" to be able to see interesting things without needing to set up a telescope. I researched and read a lot before making the purchase. The binoculars are great! The stabilization makes it possible to get a clear, shake-free view. So far I have been enjoying Jupiter and its moons, double stars, star clusters, and even some Messier objects. As a treat, various meteors flash across, and satellites too faint to see with the naked eye travel by. Even in my light polluted backyard, the binoculars are providing some very satisfying viewing. They are a bit heavier than regular binoculars, but are not uncomfortable, especially if I brace my elbows against my body or the arm of my chair.

These binos are so wonderful! For just one example, from my backporch I was able to watch in amazing detail an Eastern Bluebird work on eating a grasshopper. I watched for several minutes, and shared the experience with a friend sitting out there with me. They are so clear and so steady, and relatively very portable - I had the Fuji 14x stabilizing binos and also I have used the Canon 12x - these Nikons have exceeded all my expectations.

I was looking for Canon IS binoculars, I ended up with the Nikon instead. The Nikon is FAR superior to the Canon in anything even close to the same price range. I admit, I got extremely lucky, the shop I went to looking for image stabilization binoculars was closing out their Nikons and I got a fantastic deal on the RealTree (camoflauge) version of the 12x32 StabilEyes. These are exactly the same as the standard (black) version as far as specifications go. I'm not sure if the black ones will float, these will.

Ok, first impression was extremely clear, clean and undistorted view. I'd been using 10x50 Nikons and to be honest, just too much jiggle hand holding anymore as I get older, that's why I wanted to go to an image stabilized binocular. Looking through the StabilEyes with out VR turned on, ... Read More

Disappointment, even at the $90 + shipping I paid for it. Good focus and clarity at 20x, but only with very high contrast (white on black) is the resolution any better--and then only very slightly better--at higher power, because the clarity/attainable focus drops as much as the magnification goes up. With lower contrast subjects one gets much better resolution at 20x than 60x! And what the Vivitar web site won't tell is that despite the fact that they're based in California, the unit is made in China.
