I had expected a lot from this camera after seeing so many good reviews about the same, but that didn't really happen. Every picture i have taken with this camera has some kind of blueish-ness in it and the switch that moves from still picture to movie mode didn't work very well either. Also while reviewing the pictures/videos it took a long time to fetch them from the flash memory card. So, in short i'm not really happy with this one.

I had 4GB card free with purchase of this Garnet colored camcorder. It lasted about 1.1 hours in SP quality. I took this to some caverns at Shenandoah National Park and the videos turned out to be OK. Battery life was better than my team caver's Sony flash camcorder. In addition to being so cute and made in Japan (hard to find these days), it is quite impressive in low light settings. I just used easy mode in the caves. At first, when I checked random reviews here (mostly negative), I was worried about low light in the caves. I won't repeat what other reviewers said. For files, it was not organized as per time sequence. I did not initialized the memory card and not sure it caused the case. It should not be. I'll try again in this weekend and update my reviews. I think this is the best you can do without going into the prosumer +$2000 level. Here is what sets it apart from the average cheap camcorder: 1. The ability to shoot progressive frames. This is invaluable for those filming for the internet. Plus, progressive frames compress better; one of the reasons store bought movies look better than average joe's. 2. The ability to white balance. Especially with blue/green screening, this is very helpful. Good luck finding it on the average consumer camcorder. 3. Native 1920x1080 sensor times 3. This camera is not FakeD - it's real HD. When it scales, it scales DOWN, not up. this one star is for amazon, the item i received was with many scracthes around the body, with cables unhooked, even the battery for the remote controller was placed in. this is a definitely used camera. how could this happen from such a big amazon, unbelievable. i would not bother if they had told me this is refurbished item, but they sell it as brand new. the item could even be defective I do not know.

What a great product. Have been very happy with it. Only problem is that the battery life does not outlast the disk space so it is probably not worth getting an extra card unless you want to store your videos on the camera itself. Also, the joystick provided does not function as well. The screen should've been touch screen.

I didn't spend a lot on this product...good. Pretty much out of the box I started enjoying this product...well not really, I did have to find the firewire cable but hey. This product is very handy to use, easy to learn and fairly simple to begin with...and hey for not very much cash! I have to admit...I've been having a lot of fun with this camcorder. I spent about the same money on my phone and that pisses me off...just about on a fortnightly basis. The camcorder...no complaints. Technology that works? I'll try not to get my hopes up too much.

First off, two things you should be aware of before you buy this camera. One, if you don't have a firewire port, or don't intend on getting one for your computer (fireware cards aren't difficult to install and are fairly cheap), DO NOT buy this camera. Since most cameras record on harddrives nowadays anyways, this camera is definitely a little dated. However, if you have a firewire port this is a non issue since getting the video onto your computer is a painless process. Second, if sound is very important to you, DO NOT buy this camera. Now I'm talking more production quality sound, not your average home video sound. Item arrived in time. Bought it for my brother. Tested it and works well. What I like about it is the zoom (41x). My only concern is one has to slide the lens cover manually. I was used to DC40 which is more automatic. Overall good buy.

This camera is light, small, very intuitive and easy to maneuver. I chose the Canon DC330 over the DC310 because this model has the USB connection. I like recording on DVDs because I need to backup my computer anyway. Sound quality is very clear.
