I have been using the SX10IS for over a month. I will only echo the positive reviews already posted. I'm still in the process of exploring and expermenting with the special features of this camera. The result has been some very excellent and beautiful prints.

The only two negitive things that I find annoying, is the unattached lens cap and the instruction manual. Other reviews mentioned the lens cap problem. I wish there was a better way have this cap less likely to be misplaced. The manual presents a good amount of information in a very compact booklet. After several days of using this manual it broke apart into several loose pages.

I do not have any negitive comments for the camera. I am very happy with the features and operation of this product. I would recomment ... Read More

I had 4GB card free with purchase of this Garnet colored camcorder. It lasted about 1.1 hours in SP quality. I took this to some caverns at Shenandoah National Park and the videos turned out to be OK. Battery life was better than my team caver's Sony flash camcorder. In addition to being so cute and made in Japan (hard to find these days), it is quite impressive in low light settings. I just used easy mode in the caves. At first, when I checked random reviews here (mostly negative), I was worried about low light in the caves. I won't repeat what other reviewers said.

For files, it was not organized as per time sequence. I did not initialized the memory card and not sure it caused the case. It should not be. I'll try again in this weekend and update my reviews. Movies are in mod files and if you are ... Read More

I got this camcorder so my husband would have something else to use instead of his camera phone for short little videos. I love how small it is and that it is so easy to use. When my 19 month old is doing something we don't want to miss you can very easily grab this and start filming immediately. I have not tried downloading any photos/videos to the computer. I am using the dvd-r for most of the video because there is no having to download it's right on the disk and I can pop it into my dvd player. I did buy the memorex dvd's and everytime you turn the camcorder on it tells you you should be using sony products. This is annoying. It is not uncommon for people to purchase other brand items if they are a little more reasonable in price. I also found that alot of the prices on amazon for batteries, dvds, memorysticks ... I just purchased the DSC-H50 and I love it! Takes great pics indoors. My previous digital camera took pretty good pics outside, but indoor pics were always dark. This camera has so many features that it will take a while to get used to them.

What a great product. Have been very happy with it. Only problem is that the battery life does not outlast the disk space so it is probably not worth getting an extra card unless you want to store your videos on the camera itself. Also, the joystick provided does not function as well. The screen should've been touch screen.

This is my first time that I bought a Sony Camcorder and just I can say it is great, its compact ( it is the same size of my hand ) and its working splendid...I can recommend again and again.
The only thing that I forgot to buy for my Sony DCR-SR45 was the Sony memory stick pro duo 16 GB by Usd$97.00 here in Amazon.

Pros:
-Small size
-hard drive recording
-bundled software
-ease of backup to hard drive
-included expansion port for SD or micro SD card, I'm not sure which, though I don't know why you'd need it.
-Manual lens cover (some may not like closing and opening manually, but I prefer it, as it is one less thing that can go wrong by getting jammed or something)
-Quality of picture (more than adequate for the average home video taker)
-Auto start-up/shut-down upon opening/closing of LCD screen is VERY nice (it stays in a sort of standby mode for about 5 minutes after closing so that it doesn't have to completely reboot if you open again right away)
-Ease of operation (we've had relatives and friends who are not the most adept at using technology take video for us at a couple of events and even they ... Read More
