The tripod with flex legs is a nice design. However the threaded section that screws into the camera body is too long.

This does not allow the base of the camera to pull down flat against the top surface of the tripod the way it should. I have tried to resolve this matter directly with Flip but they have not been helpful.

I received the tripod and quickly saw that it was not of a very high quality construction. I had concerns of how long the grips that hold the leg extensions would hold up,and I did not like that there is a removable piece that connects the camera to the tripod head. The lock mechanism for that piece also concerned me that it may not hold up over time. I guess the tripod is functional for the price but the value may not hold up if you need to buy a replacement tripod.

HOW BIG IS YOUR CAMERA? This is a great product, but if you buy one that's too weak to hold your camera's weight, you're going to be disappointed. The GP1 will hold up to 9.7 oz- basically your average small point-and-click digital camera only- think Elph. The GP2 will hold up to 1.75 lbs -smaller/lighter SLR cameras with short lenses only. The GP3 will hold up to 6.6 lbs and has a slightly larger camera attach point, similar to larger tripods -good for SLRs and smaller camcorders. Unless you want to spend 10-15 minutes fighting the gorilla to hold your camera without sagging (and forget about portrait/sideways shots), make sure you buy one that can support the weight! Otherwise it's tough to beat the versatility, reliability, and small size/weight of this tripod. From what I've seen ... Read More

I also had this tripod come up while purchasing a camera and figured it would suffice until I decided to get something better. I was very suprised with the quality of this item. It's light, compact and fucntions very well. Javajunki's review is spot on.

I would definitely recommend this item.

Its built strong, and sturdy!.Nice hard plastic legs that open with 3-clips for short to long. I think the coolest thing about this tripod is the dovetail plate.! So cool that when you release the pin you can swivel 360 degrees, up/down, right/left! This comes in very HANDY!
One or 2 small drawbacks: #1-The center pole that holds the camera, slips! If you put any pressure at all on it.
Not very taught. this pole goes up & down for length and has a red clip, to hold it, but it still can be pushed down or up very easily..
Also, there is nothing on this tripod to help you level it, so attch'ing your camera can be crooked, so be careful..not a huge hinderance though.
Overall, 4-stars..given for contruction,looks,durability..this is no CHEAP LOOKING TRIPOD, its very nice ... Read More

This is the first tripod I have ever had. I have seen some others from my friends and this one is one of the best you can have for 30 bucks. It looks very nice and not cheap at all. And the poles are bigger than most of the tripods I have seen - which means more stable. It's also had bubble level (in the description it doesn't say that when some others' have, so in the beginning I thought that this one doesn't have bubble level. But it might be standard for all tripods). I'm very happy with my tripod. Don't go for some junk 10-buck tripods, spend some more money and you don't regret for your purchase.

I wanted a decently affordable tripod with good stability, less weight and I was definitely sure that I wanted a "Manfrotto". After lot of research, visits to many local camera stores and playing around with several pieces i found this one meeting my needs. Light weight (around 4 pounds) & pretty good stable for my Rebel Xti with 70-200 mm on it.
Maximum load (11 lbs). One thing i didn't like is the leg locking mechanism. Sometimes it is hard to open the lock. I loved the 360 degree movement of the middle leg, when combined with Manfrotto 322RC2 it works like a charm. I highly recommend this product who is looking for a affordable Manfrotto with good durablity.

For a hobbyist-amateur like me, this tripod is just right. Light enough, steady/solid enough, easy enough to use, and certainly cheap enough! I don't know that I'd use this on a cliff, rough terrain, or in high winds, but for family portraits and my kids' sporting events, this will do just fine.

I have been looking for a tripod for quite some time. I went to the store to see the real thing, but was disappointed at how small the cheap ones are (and of course, the bigger ones are very expensive). Then I found this one on Amazon, which I think might be a discontinued item because it's not on Sunpak web site. I'm very pleased with this product. It's well-made, very sturdy and more than enough for an average user like me. I use this when recording my baby's daily activity and it's definitely doing its job well. With what I paid for on Amazon, it's worth every penny. Highly recommended.
