I received the tripod and quickly saw that it was not of a very high quality construction. I had concerns of how long the grips that hold the leg extensions would hold up,and I did not like that there is a removable piece that connects the camera to the tripod head. The lock mechanism for that piece also concerned me that it may not hold up over time. I guess the tripod is functional for the price but the value may not hold up if you need to buy a replacement tripod.

The Velbon DF 60 is a good mid-weight stand for the money. The material and moving parts have proved appropriate. Light weight, but durable.

I purchased the vs41 and vs55. Vs41 more flexable but vs55 stays firm on any surface. I've Used the Vs41 a few times and it does what its suppose to do but if you use a heavy lense the VS55 will do a job better.

This is my second tripod and I usually use SLRs for photography. I was amazed by the quality of this tripod for an under $50 budget. I have checked out few in FRYs , Bestbuy, brands like Velbom,Sunpak..but this one is far superior to those. I would suggest this for everyone , as long as your not a pro/ I am really satisfied with Amazon and Sony

I use it for a DVD recorder and a camera. It is a nice solidly made tripod. It is simple to use and stores away nicely. I would purchase it again.

This is just what i wanted. I've looked at higher costing higher quality tripods and I just couldn't justify spending the money. This tripod is excellent quality dont get me wrong, it's very sturdy and works great. I love the fact that it is lightweight and easy to transport, just what i needed.

Very stable table top tripod, works well and seems to be of good quality. All joints can be adjusted by hand from easily moved to essentially locked. My singular gripe is that when the tripod is all folded up it is as big around (circumference) as a normal sized tripod. It will still fit in a backpack which is good but don't expect to be stuffing this thing into your pocket unless your wearing MC Hammers parachute pants from the 80s.

Liked the EZ set up and gives me the height I was looking for to produce quality video. Found a squeak during a horizontal/level turn with and without the video camera attached. Didn't see a way to reduce the squeak sound. Otherwise, this is a solid tripod and will work great for still photos.

Don't be fooled by the negativity, this product is for the serious professional not the winer. It has it all, the quick base which attaches in 1 click, remote control with the smooth fluid head pan, tilt zoom in 1 motion, nice carry bag, the light weight easy to move. Best for the new media HDV compact pro sony HDV Camera, developed with that in mind, don't sleep on this tripod. Up there with the best.

I was considering both the Ultra Maxi or Utlra Luxi tripods. The Luxi rated capacity is 6 pounds vs 5 pounds for the Maxi. I'm glad I got the Luxi cuz it seems to be able to work with my D300 and 70-300 zoom. I haven't used it in windy conditions, but it will hold this combo indoors. I'm not so sure if it can handle anything larger or heavier since it's really designed for light and small. Great for traveling since this weighs 2.1 lbs and is 13 inches. I can put this in my backpack without having it hanging out, telling everyone I'm a photographer. It also comes with a nice bag.
