I love this camcorder- It's simple to use and the picture/sound quality is very good. Especially the light-adjusting feature. The small zoom kind of annoys me, but the fact that it has any zoom on such a small innovation is great. Highly reccomended! By the way, It's a lot smaller-looking in real life than in pictures. I love the colors, too.

It works great! Excellent HD picture quality even when shown on my 100" screen. Worthy of note: When zooming in (full zoom) on a subject, there is a slight delay (5 seconds or so) before the auto focus kicks in. Just took this cam and lots of memory cards on an Alaskan cruise. The video is spectacular! The mic is quite susceptible to wind noise but it's no major issue. Be sure to purchase a MINI HDMI cable as it is not included with this camcorder. Expect the following from your SD Cards when set to highest resolution: 4 gig = 30 minutes video. 8 gig = 1 hour video. 16 gig = about 2 hours video. And, this very positive note: You can edit & burn this AVCHD video onto a regular DVD burner. You don't need to have a Blu-Ray burner! We purchased this product over six months ago. Couldn't be happier with the quality of videos it produces. Even in low light conditions the pictures come out great. The convenience of hard drive is also good. Highly recommend this if you are in market for a camcorder.

This is a good solid camera. My only complaint is that when viewed up close on an HD TV some video compression artefacts are visible. I don't know how this compares to other HD cameras using AVC, I assume most of them would have such artefacts as well. Other than that the image quality is really good.

I've been looking to update my old Sony Digital8 camcorder and have been looking primarily at Mini-DV. But, this flash camcorder caught my eye since the price of SD cards has become amazingly inexpensive. To transfer video from a DV recorder takes a lot of patience, gigabytes of storage, and hours of work. By contrast, a 4gig SDHC card in this camera can store an hour and 20 minutes at 6 mb/s. The camera will do 9 mb/s, but I don't recommend it if your final format is DVD since some players will have problems keeping up. My suggestion is to ignore most of the instructions which Canon provides and keep the software CD's in the box. There's a cute warning attached to the USB cable which warns NOT to connect it without first installing the drivers. I connected it to my MAC running OS-X 10.4 ... Read More
