I have used this imitation security camera for over three months now and overall I am pleased with it. I mounted mine overlooking my garage and it has held up very well. Although the unit is constructed of both plastic and aluminum it appears to hold up to the elements. The blinking LED is still working using the same batteries. The unit does look real and everybody that sees it assumes it is a real surveillance camera. The reason I gave it (4) stars is because the pivot bolt is made of plastic and in time, if the camera position is moved too much, that pivot bolt will either break or not secure the camera at the right angle. It is a minor detail, but if the mounting bracket and pivot bolt were constructed of all steel then for sure this would get a (5) star review. Still this is a good altenative ... Read More

While I don't recall it being advertised, mine came complete with the flashing red LED that is to simulate an operating camera. I bought three and one came with the LED operational. Another one did not have the wires from the LED connected to the battery compartment and yet another just simply would not work, even with the batteries hooked up directly to the LED. Overall I'm happy with them and they have already paid for themselves. One other thing that I did was move the simulated camera located inside housing up and forward to make it more visible. I think the way they come the actual camera unit is too low and to me, doesn't look as real. It is designed so that the height of the camera (inside the housing) can be adjusted but just not quite enough. I took the camera out completely ... Read More

The concept of fake security cameras with blinking leds and motion is a good idea. I had to return the first unit, because the motion detector would not work. Second unit doesn't always move when motion occurs. Wife did not like the look of the unit. On the second unit, one of the phillips screw's head was deformed and I could not use the screw. I may have to return the second unit. That's says it all. Try the more expensive fakes.
