I love this system. We had another brand summer infant and I always had horrible reception. I get perfect crystal clear reception throughout most of the house. The only problem area is the kitchen so I just leave it in the family room. It does make a lot of noise when the microwave is on so I just turn the volume down while using the microwave. I have had the camera for over a year now and it is still working perfect! In fact I just bought another "eye" for in my sons room and I am getting rid of the other monitor altogether.

My office is high up in a building facing south where I have great views of a mall, hotels, a marina with hundreds of yachts, an island off the coast, and beautiful sunsets behind all of that -- in other words many objects to enjoy looking at. I installed the Canon security camera on my desktop computer and use it to pan and zoom around -- watching boats, people and the weather -- all for fun. The 22x optical zoom and low light capabilities allowed me to capture a still frame of a cresecent moon with crators visible. Late in the day, images are sillouhetted against the setting sun. There is a button on the controler which allows you to adjust for that, illuminating the immage in the shadow to see details. Next was to configure the network router to allow access from outside. The documentation included with the camera is adequate but the documentation included with the slingbox was easier to follow. After that I mounted the camera on a tripod and set it at the window. I could control the camera with the computer at the office. At Christmas I tried unsuccessfully to access the camera from an XP machine at my sister's house in another state.

Sounds like that last guy had a problem somewhere between the keyboard and his chair :)The sony cam has a great picture and sound. Problems - it has NO support from Sony what-so-ever. If you are like the last guy - then you need support every step of the way.Also you cannot plug this product into your website in any way.The other major issue is that it ONLY works with IE, not firefox or any other browser. Generally I would say I regret buying this camera.
