I ordered one of these beds, plus one of the elements (same size as the one in this bed--10 x 20") to put into an existing dog bed. Well, my arthritic senior dog LOVES to lay on her old bed that has the heating element underneath. I really like the fact that it does NOT get too hot, has a chew-proof cord, and a built-in circuit breaker. But the BED itself is only so-so. I think the foam padding and thickness is good, but the cover is kind of cheesy. It sheds a lot and doesn't have the more nappy fake-sheepskin fabric like my other beds/throws that my dogs like so much. BTW, I had the same problem as one of the other reviewers--not being able to insert the cord how the instructions recommended. I have bought 2 of these now and my dogs love them!!! Unfortunately it is always just a matter of time until the seams go. My first one lasted less than a year until an unfortunate puppy pounce ended its life (seams burst). The second one had been in the shade of a patio unmoved for months when one day it just gave in two locations. I am looking to buy a replacement as the dogs love it so muh that they keep laying on the deflated one dejectedly but I need something with better quality as these are not cheap (I get the large size).
