I'm hamster sitting for a friend, and they have a couple of these dens. I think they're great. It's a syrian hamster, and it doesn't seem even close to being able to open it... maybe the other reviewer has a real hulk of a hamster, though. One caveat, though: open the den with care. The way it opens, the lid actually intersects with the entrance tube. So, if you're an absent-minded sort, be careful not to hurt your hamster with the lid, and only let children use the cage under supervision.

I don't have to say anything else. The lights are great, but just remember; "Lunar Link" it tells you right there, its a link. Make sure you buy this one that says "Lunar Light" first, it comes with a plug. The Nocturnal Blue LED's are very bright, DON'T LOOK AT THEM DIRECTLY. I have a 30 Gal., so i bought the "Lunar light and Link" it was a perfect fit. Just had to do a little modification to my tank light, and you can't even see that their there. This is a very attractive decoration. It's fits quite well with room to spare even in one of my 3 gallon Eclipse aquarium. Eclipse 3 Gallon Acrylic Aquarium System. The artificial foliage is in balance with the hollow log. I often find my Betta asleep in the log at night. The Otto cats love it too. I did find one or two sharp edges inside the log that might cause an abrasion, but they are easily smoothed. Now, you don't have to worry about trying to anchor down artificial plants or trying to grow live plants that your fish keep uprooting.

This little gem saves you tons of heavy lifting. Just hook it to your kitchen faucet, turn on the water, and it pumps some water out of your aquarium and gives enough suction to clean the gravel, too. Then, when you're ready to add fresh water, just make sure the water running out of your tap is the same temp as your tank, switch the valve so that it's no longer pumping, and water will flow into your tank. Use enough water treatment for the whole tank, rather than just the number of gallons you're adding! I can clean my 30 gallon in about 15 minutes!

only con is its hard to make the tissues come out of the tube like they are suppose to. i keep having to open the bottle. however, the pros is that each tissue will do alot of work and you can see it cleaning (cuz it foams a little bit). very convenient for quick cleans ups as well as a good aid during thorough cage cleanings.

my black bear hamster has already outgrown this cage in about a week. the spinny wheel on top is a flimsy, dirty nightmare. it's loud and wobbles off the base. taking the cage apart to clean involves taking apart everything and breaking a few pieces accidentally or intentionally, since they don't snap apart or together easily. i wouldn't recommend this to anyone, especially since i paid full price for it at petsmart! i am going to try a different crittertrail cage because i like the tubes. the only bonus i see is that my hamster poops in the lookout tower, which should in theory be easy to clean but in reality is frustrating.
