I bought this for my cat Angel who has the beginnings of renal failure. I use a level spoon FOR EACH MEAL (spoon included in the container) and mix it well with Science Diet KD for cats. It is one of the best cat foods because it is meaty, a good source of protein and has a low phospherus content. I put angel on it for about 1 month and had her retested. The results showed that her levels had lowered and on one of the tests, she went completely into the normal range! Not bad! I'm very happy. I SHOULD ALSO TELL YOU.... Together with the CET toothbrush, I've used this toothpaste for years with my cats. They like the taste, and most importantly, it's safe for cats to swallow. This is in contrast to human toothpaste, which is not meant for animals and can be dangerous for them to swallow. I read good reviews for this brand in the animal health literature. It contains two active enzymes - Glucose Oxidase and Lactoperoxidase. These are supposed to help fight against tartar (similar to hydrogen peroxide, which is used in some other pet toothpastes). Interestingly, you won't see fluoride in pet toothpastes, as it is not considered safe for them to swallow. I have been using Petz Life gel on my Labrador's teeth for almost two years and so far she has not needed a cleaning. I use a soft toothbrush. The front teeth are easy to brush. For the back teeth I slide the toothbrush into her mouth until I feel contact with the teeth. the dog tolerates it very well. The original discoloration on her teeth is gone. The vet asked me whether I had been cleaning her teeth.

I was skeptical if this would work for my dog. I didn't want to take the dog to the vet and have her on hormone replacement for the rest of her life; the cost was prohibiting (vets and drugs). It was easy to dispense the dosage, mix it with cat food and the cat did not at all object to consuming it.
