I wish you could see how funny my dogs acted the first time they got a load of this thing. I put in the batteries and tested it as instructed and my dogs reacted right away. I will say right up front that I am using this indoors. I cannot imagine what could be different about the outdoor vs the indoor unit but I didn't know that a unit designed specifically for indoor use was available until after I received this one. When it worked so well I was not going to exchange it. It took a few days for them to figure out what was going on but they finally got the message. I have an 80lb collie and a 8lb Maltese. I've used a bunch of different baby gates over the years to contain both toddlers and dogs. This Hands Free gate is by far the best I've ever owned. It is very sturdy, stays in place, and the foot latch works easily. I would suggest purchasing at least one gate extension with this gate. Without an extension the gate will only fit a standard bedroom door. It will not fit in a hallway without at least one extension. Save yourself some shipping by ordering the gate and the extension at the same time.

THE HANDLE TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE GATE KEEPS GETTING STUCK, I THINK ITS TO HARD TO OPEN WHEN YOUR IN A HURRY TO GET TO YOUR BABY. My cats are getting arthritis and have difficulty jumping onto their favorite nesting area, my bed. I bought the steps several months ago and the cats have easily adjusted to it and use it daily. No accidents. It is sturdy and yet light-weight.

Very happy with the purchase of this gate. Looks great, matches any decor. Sturdy mesh. Just a bit more difficult to take down and put up than other gates. I am very pleased with the gate overall.

I bought the extension in anticipating that in a few months we would have to make the playard a larger size. Love it. Works well, sturdy, transportable with the playard. I would recommend getting this extension along with the playard.

I think this is a great gate for the price. The instructions are no help though so you are on your own to figure out how to set it up. The natural wood makes it inconspicuous and I really like the simple design.
