So I'm the kind of 'mom' that spoils her little one. I got this cage for my chinchilla. Now before I purchased it, I read the reviews so in advance I was aware of the flaws, like how the shelves have a small gap in between the wire and the plastic flooring where the toes can get caught, and yes, watch out they that gap makes me cringe. Also I don't like the ramps since they are just made of wire and toes can get caught there as well. So my plans for this cage is to put sleep-n-ledges, and make my own long ledges and ramps out of 'chin-friendly' wood. On top of that, I'm going to put in a nesting box so there is a small dark place at the top of the cage he can sleep. Once all of that is done, this cage is going to be great. This started as a cool new home for my son's first pet, but our sirian started nesting in the wheel the first night. No matter how many times I emptied the bedding, she went right back to storing food and bedding in the wheel. Every time she went for a run, shavings, seeds, and poop went everywhere! I swapped her out fof the basic Critter Trail without the wheel on top, but that one has a very small wheel and it is not big enough for our sirian. Now I have to buy more stuff... sigh.

I ordered this product after my hampster finally chewed through one of the metal bars on her small cage. I acquired this cage and hampster from a friend. The next cage, I wanted it to be bigger and more room for her to run around and explore. I found this on Amazon and thought it was reasonably priced and figured I would give it a try. It arrived in a timely manner. It took my hampster a couple days to get aquanited to her new home but she loves it now. The only negative is it is a bear to put together. Not the cage itself, but the tunnels she climbs through. I finally ended up taping them together.

THE GOOD: When I got the cage and opened the box, I knew it was good quality. The colors were nice and it was larger than the previous cage. Kyoko seemed to like it just as much as she spent at least 2 or more hours climbing everywhere, smelling this and running over that. She seemed to avoid the tubes at first but a little re-configuration seemed to solve that. She still prefers climbing the cage walls then the tubes though. The main plus her is that she fits and can move (she is a golden Syrian hamster.) She has been chewing on the cage and it has yet to show signs of wear. It is still as strong as the day I bought it. I purchased my Ferret Nation 143 and it was an excellent buy, my husband and I attached the add on to our 141 in under 10 minutes, all the parts were there and the directions were easy to follow. The add on 143, like the 141 is extreemly easy to maintain. I see cages made of much lighter materials selling for equal to greater $$. The 143 makes the total cage very roomy, making it a great addition for multi-ferret households. Excellent value and quality.
