This is a really great price for these chew sticks. My dog absolutely loves them... He sits in front of the cabinet we keep them in every night after we settle in and waits for us to give him one... Our vet says they are great for his teeth. The only thing I don't like is that he tends to swallow them whole, and they sit at the back of his throat. Not sure if that is just my pooch, but we never give them to him if he's is going to be alone.

Please be careful with this product. My pug almost died today choking on one of the dog chews. I assume that the larger and smaller ones are fine, but my pug who weighs about 16 lbs (within the 11-25 lb suggestion) could not swallow the chew and got it stuck in her throat (after she chewed it until the point when it got wet and pliable). Thank god that my wife and I were in the living room to witness the accident. My dog fell over in convulsions while choking and my wife physically yanked the chew out of the dog's mouth. I think that this sized chew is very dangerous and you should think twice before purchasing it. If you do have a similar dog and want to buy this product, please supervise him/her!

Standard poodles have a problem with tartar on their teeth, and ours is no different. This product keeps her from having to have her teeth professionally cleaned too often (to be avoided due to the necessity for anesthesia). My guess is that if we brushed her teeth every day plus gave her the dentahex chews, she wouldn't need professional cleaning. However, she doesn't like having her teeth brushed even though she likes the taste of the toothpaste. So it takes both my husband and me to do it -- he holds her jaw open, and I brush. Most people tell me that their dogs willingly open their mouths to get their teeth brushed; unfortunately ours doesn't.

My dog loves the Greenies. He is a 12lbs pug and the Tiny size were too small for him. These are a better size for him. He loves them. He recently decided that he didn't like many of his treats but he still loves these.

I have seven cats and four of them enjoyed these chews. Three of them would chew them whole, but the other cat needed them to be broken up before she would eat them. The other three cats wouldn't have anything to do with them, no matter what I did. Overall, I think these made great treats for my cats who really enjoyed them. I can't say if the treats did anything for their dental health and seeing as I still have to brush their teeth, I only buy these chews on occasion.

Making the gums dry works wonder to help the gel stick to the teeth. In fact they will feel "squeaky" and waxy afterward when the pet has had a chance to try to get some of it off. What works best for me and the clients at my clinic is finding an applicator that works for you! I hate the applicators that come with it... in fact I think it's faster and easier to use my fingers before my dog has her tongue all over the place. A little gauze or cotton ball works great for others. Our vets also warm up the gel by putting the cartridge into warm/hot water before opening it for use -- this will make the wax more of a liquid goo and it works just as well (but again you have to make sure it sticks by making the gums dry... try wiping the top surface dry of one side, applying, and then going ... I have been using Petz Life gel on my Labrador's teeth for almost two years and so far she has not needed a cleaning. I use a soft toothbrush. The front teeth are easy to brush. For the back teeth I slide the toothbrush into her mouth until I feel contact with the teeth. the dog tolerates it very well. The original discoloration on her teeth is gone. The vet asked me whether I had been cleaning her teeth.

I bought this dental kit for my puppy and its very good. The mints aren't really minty fresh though. After my doggy eats them her breath still smells the same. The toothbrush is really good with the option of using the big or small side.
