All this thing is is a poorly made Dremel or Rotary Tool. Long and short, my Cuz bought one and I witnessed him tormenting his pooch with this thing.He gave up after 10 minutes of watching and listening to his Lab shivering and growling and this thing only removed a couple of 1/16th's from one nail in that ten minutes.It is to underpowered to be of any real use. Can I just recommend the easy and professional way. Get a good Canine Nail trimmer, one made in the USA or Germany and then pick up a inexpensive rotary tool with a small drum sander tip . Cut the bulk of the nail off with the mechanical trimmer and then simply use the rotary tool to round and smooth the nails.I have English Bulldogs and have been using this system for ever. There are a few problems with this item. The sandpaper bands slips down while trying to use it on the pet's nail. Even while trying to grind the nail for half a second, the motor will slow down and the band will slip off. I just gave up using it and feel like it was money wasted. I'm a very experienced dog owner and am good at using tools -- I'm going back to the Dremel.

This is a good choice for clipping the nails of large dogs. Does the job quickly and better than other style of nail clippers and with less pressure on the nails. As nail clippers go... I have recently taken to grinding the nails down as opposed to clipping. With a good grinder (dremel tool) like this one Dremel 761-03 7,000/14,000 RPM Cordless Pet Nail Grooming Rotary Tool. I can take the time once every week or so to do a little quick grinding on the nails and the dogs are much more relaxed about it. Pretty easy and if you do happen to hit the quick - it cauterizes it right away so there is no bleeding. I have a Blue/White one but it's the same model. I Love how it has a Styptic powder included cuz we all cut it a wee bit too short sometimes. But I've used the guillotine type cutters and they never cut cleanly. But this one cut cleanly and my dogs didn't even flinch. I think I'm gonna be using this one for a LONG time. At I bought mine at Target for like $9.99 so the price and quality is excellent. I'd recommend it !!
