I've used these collars before, and they are effective at preventing ticks from attaching to the dog's skin; however, they don't prevent the dog from bringing ticks inside the house. Also, the listing neglected to say that the 25" collar is for dogs over 60 lbs, which is an important piece of information to include. I have a 6 lb. dog and was worried that the bigger collar might have too strong a dose of the tick killer in it. I will go to the entirely pets website directly next time.

One of our three cats is not only diabetic and needs 2 insulin shots a day, but she's also violently allergic to fleas. Before she developed diabetes we would take her in for a steroid shot when her skin got bad, but we can't do that any more. She's an indoor cat, but down here in Savannah you can pick up fleas on your socks or pants cuffs just walking outside, and then we added an outside kitty to our household. Our vet recommended Advantage, and it has worked like a charm. Even with her extremely sensitive skin our diabetic allergic cat has regained her soft beautiful black coat. I can't recommend Advantage highly enough.

Our 2 puppies got it this year and, as far as I can tell, they are bug-free so far. I can't say whether this is because of Frontline or because there are no fleas in surroundings but, until evidence to the contrary emerges, I will give Frontline the credit. The makers claim that Frontline Plus kills all fleas and prevents re-infestation for up to one month. For 'paralysis tick' protection, bi-weekly application is recommended but results are not guaranteed. The product comes in a number of 'pipettes' that contain an oily-sticky liquid that is applied on the back of the dog's neck's, on the skin (must part the coat until the skin is visible). You can purchase this online at a very resonable price. It is VERY effective against fleas in the home. I generally use it once a year in the Spring and have NEVER had fleas in my home. Minimal odor and safe on all fabrics I have sprayed it on.

I bought these flea collars online because seems everyday my dog comes home with a tick , and my dog has been scratching fleas so much he lost his hair. I bought two for my two dogs and two for my two cats...so far no ticks or fleas in sight. I check over my dogs daily to make sure none of the little critters are driving them mad..and i haven't seen any. I have not noticed any on the cats either...The collars smell like vanilla, so that is a plus... I rate this product as great!

I have been using Preventic tick collars on our dogs for over ten years. This is the only collar I have found that actually works against ticks. It is not effective against fleas, but absolutely controls ticks.

I just moved to Mississippi and my 3 New York Chihuahua had never know what a tick was. Obviously these Mississippi Ticks didn't know what a New York Chihuahua was because they all wanted a taste of them. I was plucking 2-3 a day off my little guys. I did treat the yard with a bag of bug granules from Lowes. I only treated near the house since I didn't want any ticks on me. I didn't treat the rest of the 20 acres where the dogs often go exploring. I placed these collars on them and for 60 days not one tick or flea. Not even a bite. The collars actually have a pleasant smell. After 60 days free of ticks I did spot 2 ticks total in the span of the next few weeks. These are advertised a 6 month collars.
