The title for the product says 5LBS which is the newer version and the picture they have is the newer version. But they ship you the 4.2LBS old version which is much harder to program, doesn't have the option of plugging in a power adapter, the food bowl doesn't detach for cleaning, and cats can stick the paw up the shoot and make it release food. All reasons they discontinued the 4.2LBS version and now have the 5LBS version, the one that amazon has pictured. Classic bait and switch, amazon is a horrible company.

I set this feeder up to try before leaving town. I froze ice packs & set for 12 hour feeding. It started rotating 12 hours later, then reversed 2 slots, then reversed again, & kept going back & forth non-stop. I finally just turned it off. When I took it apart to remove battery the ice packs were already melted & warm. I'm glad I tested before leaving town because I would have come home to a dead cat.

I searched amazon.com and ended up selecting this feeder, probably about a year ago. My cat has tried his hardest to get in and has been unable. Otherwise, it was worked exactly as promised. I still haven't had to change the batteries, which is wonderful. I have it set for 5am every day and now my cat doesn't wake me up by crying or politely nibbling on my thighs. It's also great for when I leave for the weekend. Yay!

My cat really loves this water dispenser. She is drinking more than ever and I am enjoying it's capacity. I do not have to fill either container that often, and the openings for dry food and for water are large enough my cat can easily eat and drink. The products would accomidate a small dog as well, quite easily. I am very happy I ordered these pet food and water dispensers.

I was skeptical about getting a "automatic feeder" after trying the automatic cat litter box(very disappointing story). I use dry cat food only and have a declawed FAT cat. The automatic lid doesn't stick and I refill her dish when she's done and close the lid so she can't try to get to the other food in the dish. She did try mind you, but I found that all it took was to close the lid. Once it's locked it's unopenable till the next feed time! She loves hearing her dish call her to eat! She also enjoys being on a routine and I love that she doesn't BOTHER me ALL the time for food! Well worth the money!

Well, we all loved the feeder. We have an overweight cat and thought that this would be a great way to control the amount that she ate. We fed just the fat cat with the feeder - and fed the other cat on top of the bookshelf. Everything was fine, until the fat cat lost enough weight so that she could jump up on top of the bookshelf and eat her brother's food, so that was no longer an option. I purchased two of these to replace the older version I have had for about 10 years...the new ones look nicer and don't show the dirt like the older white ones did....I just hope they hold up as well as the older ones did.... great shipping by the way!!!! I bought this in 2003 and the model I have has proven to be very sturdy. In this time, have had to change the batteries only 4 times and have it set to open once a day. From reading other reviews, it seems the older one I have must be more sturdy - it would need to be turned on its' side for my cats to pry the top off since the lid post "locks" in place. I've had a few problems with it fully opening when the batteries are low and the recording is a bit tinny but my cats respond to it. Someone mentioned it being set on military time but it can be set on either (read directions). It's easy to clean, easy to fill, and bowls are wide enough for a medium-large dog to access -- a German Shepherd or Rottie might destroy it when hungry! I give it an 8 out of 10 rating.
