I wish you could see how funny my dogs acted the first time they got a load of this thing. I put in the batteries and tested it as instructed and my dogs reacted right away. I will say right up front that I am using this indoors. I cannot imagine what could be different about the outdoor vs the indoor unit but I didn't know that a unit designed specifically for indoor use was available until after I received this one. When it worked so well I was not going to exchange it. It took a few days for them to figure out what was going on but they finally got the message. I have an 80lb collie and a 8lb Maltese. My cats are getting arthritis and have difficulty jumping onto their favorite nesting area, my bed. I bought the steps several months ago and the cats have easily adjusted to it and use it daily. No accidents. It is sturdy and yet light-weight.

This door seemed great. I had to work with my cat for a while to train him on pushing the plastic flap, but eventually he got it and it was working well. I use it to connect a window on a closed in porch that has his kitty litter in it, to the kitchen. If I keep the kitty litter in the house, the dog will eat it. After he had fully mastered the system, I then went away overnight. When I returned, I found a very traumatized, upset kitty trapped on my back porch. In his travels back and forth, he had loosened the small piece of plastic that locks the flap. He hadn't been able to return back into the house and to his food and water. I promptly broke off the piece of plastic that allows it to lock; it's simply not a safe product with it.

This ramp is very lightweight and easy to manage. The width is a bit narrow, so larger dogs should be surefooted. There is, however, nothing to clip/secure it to the edge of the vehicle - there are rubber feet, which do a fairly good job of keeping it secure, but with a large older dog, who was not surefooted, and only one person trying to hold it and encourage the dog, we tipped because one leg didn't make it to the ramp(dog is fine). On the second and third trys, we managed fine.

We purchased this to replace our old, battered dog door. The difference is incredible! This dog door is well made and also looks nice. Basically it made our old dog door seem like an open window... the floor is much warmer now and so is the whole room. We have a german shepherd, boxer and mini poodle - the shepherd is on the larger side and had us a little worried she wouldn't fit through, but she did. Keep that in mind if you have a large dog, it says "up to 100 lbs" on the box. My shepherd is probably right around 100 lbs.

The ramp works just fine but the no-skid covering put on top of the ramp is cheap and tears very easily. My golden scratched, and ripped it immediately with his nails.

The Lentek Pet Paw, part of the Pet Chime system by Lentek, is a great idea that is badly engineered. Years ago, our dog was successfully trained to use the Pet Paw, despite the fact the only way to get it to work is to step on one little part of it, and even that often doesn't work. The Pet Paw often becomes dysfunctional when wet or frozen, because water can seep in around the edges of the part the dog has to step on. It must be kept in a plastic freezer bag to remain workable. The battery is hard to change because it is wedged in so tightly, and whenever there is a problem (which is often) the first thing we have to check is that battery.
