PC Hardware : Brother HL-5250DN Refurbished Network Ready Laser Printer with Duplex
Off The Bookshelf's Price: $159.99

After research on cost per copy, speed per copy, etc., Brother was the best deal by far. So far it cost me around one cent per copy using the high yield cartridge. I've had no problems with jams or smears. Plus, I love the duplex capabilities. You can't do better for a black and white laser printer.

I was having problems connecting with my old HP printer, but I liked the photo printing quality. I first ordered the HP7460 from HP web site. They lost it when shipping Fed Ex. Then I ordered it from Amazon for $20 cheaper and fast delivery. I picked this model for the wireless capability and the viewing screen. I haven't been disappointed.

There's no doubt that there are better printers out there, but none for this price.
The photo prints that I've made seem a little saturated and dark, but that's compared to the laptop LCD screen which is back-lit. Also it appears there are ways of adjusting the color balance but I haven't bothered, mostly because I like the look of most of the pictures that I've printed. Besides, if you want a photo printer - go with an inkjet. The only reason I NEEDED a laser printer is that I print something once every 2-3 months, and in that time, inkjets dry up. I was replacing ink every time I printed anything, and that gets expensive.
The startup time is a little lengthy, but for a home printer it's not bad. Text is crisp and sharp.
I have it connected to my home-office computer, and shared among ... Read More

I have owned all the previous 5000 Model Series and was happy with them. The ability to have very very low pricing on the ink cartridges was the reason I went to Kodak.

I moved up to the ESP 9 Series for one reason - WiFi - and it has worked perfectly without any problems. I have 5 different computers both portable and desktop hooked up to this one printer and they all work without a hitch.

The new touch panel on the front of the ESP 9 is very easy to use and the new Black Finish on this model makes to look more professional in the office enviroment.

I use the Automatic Paper Feeder most of the time and to date it has worked again without a hitch.

The only thing about this printer and any of the Kodak Printers is that they do not give a deep color penetration ... Read More

I bought the Epson 1900 to back up a old 2200 I have and have had nothing but problems since. To start off it eats through inks getting half the total square inch coverage I get on my 2200. I have had continuous paper feeding issues using Epson papers. Every now and then in the process of printing a image it dumps a ton of ink on the paper making the print worthless. Now in switching ink cartridges it won't recognize the new cartridge. In fact it won't recognize any of them. I've re-booted the printer several times, re-installed the software several times and am ready to trash it. In the 5-6 years I've had the 2200 I've never had a issue. I even recommended Epson to another photographer and they've had nothing but problems. Obviously Epson cares nothing about quality anymore and this will be the last Epson I buy. To ... Read More

I bought this about a year ago to replace my Lexmark. My lexmark was exceptional, but VERY expensive ink and then when a band fell out of place, I couldn't fix it and Lexmark customer service SUCKED royally. So I bought this Kodak. I love the fact that I can get both color and black for around $20. (Lexmark would cost me around $60) I love the fact that I can put my memory card right into the pc and print out 4X6. Now for the bad news. It doesn't come with a manuel. SO every time you have a problem, you have to load the manuel on line or call the service center. My first problem was when I ran out of ink in the middle of doing a biography on my Dad due by Xmas 2007 as a present to my bro and sis. I couldn't do ANYTHING. I even had to unplug it to get it to turn off. Customer service was not real nice about this ... Read More

I have had 5 HP printers in the past 12 years, 2 of them using HP Color LaserJet technology. The 3600n and the 1518ni have both suffered electrostatic transfer belt failure. The 3600n failed twice during a 14 month life cycle with minimal use and the 1518ni failed during installment a few minutes out of the box. I don't recommend HP Color Laser technologies at this time but do recommend their Black and White laser technology. I do have 2 black and white laser printers that are working very well.
