After spending an hour on the phone with HP support regarding smearing issues, I was told that this machine is designed to use a maximum 20 lb. paper, not bond paper. If I leave the back of the machine open, enough heat may be generated to make the toner set better, but if I sent a sample of my paper...I thanked the young Indian man and called sales to get the number for Mission Control, the support number here in the U.S. (888-943-8476). They attempted to send me back to India, but I refused to go and encourage everyone in the U.S.A. to use Mission Control and refuse to be transferred outside the country. I can't even write a review on the performance of the machine. I bought it, and it the FLIMSY plastic BROKE whilst I was trying to install the ink cartridges...I regret buying this product and actually doubt that I will be buying an HP printer again.

I bought this in August 08 and it is now December 08 and so I thought I would write a quick review. This printer is great. It sets up easily in wireless mode (although it helps if you have some technical expertise) and it prints well. There is some minor edge curly of the pages, but frankly I hardly notice. The duplexing works great and the images are very nice too. My only issue is that 64MB wasn't enough for my wife to print her pdf files with color photos in them. So, I wound up buying more memory. The good news is that the memory you buy can be any old laptop 144-pin S0-DIMM, so I got 512MB for about $80. Now no more out of memory problems. I definitely recommend this printer.

After having read numerous complaints about this device going to sleep and never waking up, I made sure to immediately install it using the fairly public workaround of giving it a dedicated IP address. It has never used DHCP and it has never failed. Would it fail to wake up if I used DHCP? Probably so, but since I'm not using it that way, it's not a problem. I'm ecstatic that the driver can be installed alone - without all of the extra overhead fluff that many consumer printers scatter around your system. When I'm not printing, there aren't 10,000 processes running in the background like there were with my old Lexmark. So far I've only used the included inks and the photo quality, at least to an untrained eye, is much better than I would have expected from a device at this price. ... Read More

I purchased the Canon iP100 mobile printer and I love it. My need was for a small, light weight printer to travel with me on work assignments in the U.S. and abroad. It works great as a basic word document printer, but it also prints beautiful pictures. It will be a great companion with my laptop computer.

I would recommend this printer to anyone looking for a medium duty B&W printer. We have been using the 5250DN on a small office network for about 6 weeks. It set up easily and so far has worked perfectly. Yes, it is a little noisy but not so much so as to be a problem. We use it for letters, lengthy documents printed on both sides, checks and invoices. The print quality is good at 600dpi, and very good at 1200dpi. The reported issue with power consumption has not been a problem for us - it is pluged into a 20A circuit that measures 124v at the outlet, and the UPS logs do not show any undervolt problems. The only thing missing is a straight-through outfeed option - that would help with envelopes, label sheets and heavier paper stock.

I've had my printer for about 10 months. I loved it in the beginning. For the price, I thought it was a great printer (and still do think the quality printing is good). My problem is that after about 5 months, the paper feeder would no longer feed paper into the printer. The rollers would roll, but wouldn't catch the paper to feed it in. I called Canon and they sent me a refurbished one to replace it and paid the shipping to return the old one. I was happy with their prompt response, and I do disagree with reviews saying Canon's service is bad. I would give this product 4 stars, but I'm waiting to see if I'll have the same problem with my replacement printer first.

This a good printer for the price. The only issues I have are that it is a bit bulky and noisy when it wakes up from sleep mode. It also seems to suck up a little more power during this stage.

I was looking for a replacement for my older HP Photosmart printer, specifically one with CD/DVD direct print capability. I found it in the D5460, and then some. It only took a short time to understand the workings and I printed a couple of DVD's the first night. By the third day, I had printed over 40 and each time I improved until It was just another task. I now print several discs every day and it is so easy. The print quality and dry time are excellent. A sample pack of heavy photo paper was included and I lost one of the three due to a subject's head being cut off. I just moved it down a bit and voila!
