If you're getting loud clicking noises that seem to be coming from the left front by the paper tray, here's how to fix the problem: - Take the paper tray out. Make sure the paper height is set to 11 inches -- it's probably set a little smaller, and the design lets the paper interfere with the gear that lifts the paper up for the feed roller to grab when it's not set right. - Then lock the paper size - the lock is at the back of the tray. Brother ships it unlocked for some reason.

The set-up unexpectedly turned out to be a huge pain. The first surprise came when we unpacked the printer and realized Canon penny-pinchers didn't supply the usb cable. So if you really want to use your printer, buy usb cable (like Belkin F3U133-10 Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Cable (10 Feet). The manual is provided on the installation CD in some arcane format, which requires Internet Explorer 6.0 or newer version for some totally unknown reason and doesn't work with Firefox. The installation of the driver itself (on Windows 2000) went smoothly, but then printer just refused to find paper in its own cassette. My wife and me performed shamanic rituals around the printer for 2 hours before we accidentally discovered the problem: rear cover was not inserted deep enough. I ordered and paid for a Canon SELPHY DS810 Photo Printer through Ritz Camera and received the usual multiple emails thankin me for my order, informing me that my printer "has been shipped," and then "your order has been cancelled" because the item was no longer available. Hmmm... So which is it? Has the item been shipped, or has the order been cancelled. I don't know if this is a function of Amazon.com or of Ritz Camera, but I do know I won't believe it when they say an item is "in stock" or "had been shipped." Lies, all lies.

I just bought the HP Photosmart Pro B8350 printer because it was about the only medium format (13"x 19") printer that takes advantage of HP's gray inkjet cartridges - all for a reasonable price. I had no trouble setting it up and printing out a nice test sheet. I was amazed at the results! It looked like fine-grain photo paper - even under a loop - and produced a nice neutral color. I highly recommend this printer. I did a lot of research to come to this decision, and I hope you can benefit from my efforts. Enjoy!

This is one of the worst printers I have ever purchased. First off, the HP paper that came with the printer jams very easily. Second, sometimes when I remove the jammed paper, the printer prints everything all over again. So when I had a 15 page report, I think used more than 25 pages. Third, the ink runs out too quickly. I brought new ink a month ago, and now I need more ink. It sucks to be a student that needs to print reports.

The HP Photosmart D7160 is a great printer -- "on paper". I bought the printer primarily based on it's features and the photo quality was also impressive. Unfortunately the more mundane aspects of the printer caused problem after problem until I literally had a fit and threw it in the trash. This negative review is now my attempt to calm down. First problem I had with this printer: It would frequently pause between print jobs and spend over a minute recalibrating. The more cynical might note that this also wasted a LOT of ink. Second problem: The printer would sometimes insist on using the photo tray for 'regular' paper jobs, or vice versa. It had nothing to do with the print-driver settings, they were correct. WHEN this printer feels like printing, the quality is acceptable; unfortunately, that's just not often enough. It seems to lose its microcode about 40% of the time, meaning you need to turn the machine off, wait a few minutes and restart it - and pray to the print-god that it will finally work. Sometimes I just hand-write a letter or memo instead of "fussing" with it. Very discouraging. Try another brand.

I printed 2700 or more pages with the original ink. In fast draft setting. Color! Still the colors looked great, even as the pages were rush printed. I then took the cartridges to walgreens to refill, and the ink sucked big time. so, if you run out of ink, just don't refill at walgreens.
