After spending a small fortune printing brochures in Kinko's, I got this printer. It is great. Same quality as Kinko's. Now I spend a fortune in toners, but on a FULL color page I estimate a 20% savings in this printer over kinkos, but if you pages do not have a color background, the savings are even bigger since Kinko's charges per page does not matter the amount of toner they use.

I have had very poor success with HP products on my Mac Tiger operating system and should have known better than to order the new K8600 wide format printer. It connected okay and said the software loaded okay. The printer performed test functions as it should but that is were things went bad. When trying to print from the computer it would signal that there was no paper. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it and it printed a page from the computer beautifully. Next time I tried I had the no paper signal again. Once again I tried reloading the software. This proceeded to trash my ability to download anything. I finally had to erase my hard drive and rebuild my computer operating system to get my computer back on line. This was on a Mac-mini 1.42 GHz with 1 GB of memory and plenty ... Read More

Don't waste your money. This thing worked fine for 2 months on Windows XP and then started acting up after a security update blocked the annoying web information designed to sell you more products. Tech support was no help at all and I've wasted four days, 8 restarts, and 3 reinstalls. HP clearly wrote software beneficial only to them to sell more products. There is no way to set it function without the bloatware. I'm currently searching for a new printer as I've wasted too much time and money, including new ink cartridges.

I deeply wish I had checked reviews BEFORE I bought this printer. It worked correctly for about four months and over the last year and a half has progressively deteriorated. The ink is too expensive, though you can save through certain recycle programs. The ink is also UNRELYABLE! Some of my photos have yellowed, and faded horribly over the past year; on both HP paper and Kodak paper. I know of no recalls, but somthing is WRONG with HP ink! The printer also slowly stopped feeding paper correctly. Sometimes it took far to many in and jammed, but most of the time it only takes paper when pushed into the rollers 1-by-1. HP cust. serv. said "try cleaning the rollers". Seriously? Do you think I didn't try that before writing? I will NEVER consider another HP printer, no matter how highly recommended in the future!

The HP csr is not competent and keep making mistakes. I want to summarize everything here so you can go through everything in 10mins instead of 3 hours. If you got blinking lights, try to install only one cartrige to isolate the problem. When you have the working cartridge installed (color or B&W), you can hold the power button and open the printer cover 3 times and you can get a test page. Let the csr know you have a defective cartridge, the cartridge expiration date is on top of the cartridge, and provide them your info and you need to ship the cartridge and test page back.
