I have owned this printer for a few months and have been very happy with it. It works very well with a mac, it's very easy to use and the printing quality is great. The scanner works well too and its really easy to scan or make photocopies. It's very compact and takes as little desk space as an all-in-one can take.

Especially for mac users, I think brother all-in-one's are the best ones.

I was looking at purchasing an HP printer because it's "what I've always done". However, the last 2 HP laptops I purchased were bad experiences...maybe user, maybe not. Please bear with me since this is not a printer tale so much as an HP tale. The first HP laptop was refurbished and started encountering problems from the start. When the 2nd started out much the same and was brand new, I went round and round with tech support. First with HP, then Kodak and Microsoft. The recurring theme was 'this is a known compatibility issue with HP'. I immediately traded the laptop for a Sony Vaio and have never looked back. I was considering buying an HP printer because of familiarity and they seem to easily match up with other brands. The previous review has changed my mind. I will look at Canon or something ... PC Hardware : Lexmark Inkjet Printer (Z1420)
I originally purchased the the Lexmkar Z1420 after reading many positive reviews. For the first 4 months this printer worked great, but then randomly one day the wireless connection went. After about 3 painful hours on the phone with technical support they decided that it was broken and decided to send me a new upgraded printer. When that arrived a hooked it up and everything seemed fine, until I tried to print!! The new printer did not work!! I am so disgusted wiht Lexmark I will never buy their products again. In addition the guy at my work who does all of our computer stuff said their products really are crap. So please please do yourself a favor and spend the extra 20 or 30 dollars and get a better printer. I would not want anyone to go though the miserable experience I had between faulty printers ... I needed it as I was hosting a party where I wanted to give all guests a framed photograph of them in the party. I have used it only once and was pretty satisfied with the performance. I wish I had gone for better photo paper though.

I use a Brother MFC-8460 in my other office and have been very pleased with the performance and reliability. I was about to buy a second one for a new office but came across an incredible deal on this MFC-9440cn (hard to pass up a color laser unit at the same price as the 8460 B/W unit!). Having bought it without seeing it in person I was a bit concerned, but when it arrived it exceeded my expectations.

Pros:
* Quality construction: The weight of the unit and the quality feel of the machine is simply a cut above that of the 8460. And I am happy with the 8460 at its price, so I am really pleased with this unit!
* Easy set up: While it is not a light unit, once you have it where you want it is very easy to set up. The instructions are easy to follow: Remove the protective tape, insert the toner ... Read More

I bought the Brother 7820N 9 months ago and love it! I would highly recommend this MFC to anyone that wants a multifunction device and does not need to print in color. It is cheap to operate and is always ready to go. No cleaning, no purchasing new print cartridges. I plan to pick up this same printer for my father for Christmas.

PC Hardware : HP Photosmart A717 Compact Photo Printer
This compact printer is perfect for someone who wants hard copies of all those digital pictures you take. It can access pictures from various sizes of memory cards so there's no need to attach to a computer. The one problem I found with this printer-- and every other compact printer I've tried-- is that it tends to cut off the very top portion of your original photos. For instance, if you have a group shot and the top of the frame is close to the tops of the people's heads, it's possible the print will crop off those people somewhere around the eyebrows. This can be very annoying! Now I have fixed that problem by using the ROTATE button so that it prints upside down and cuts off the lower portion of the picture only. I've often wondered why the default isn't to cut off the bottom, not the top, but this trick has made it easy ... Read More

Many people had problems with paper jam on the CLP 300, so I just want to share a quick fix that helped me and my friend.

Since this IS a review, I'll quickly mention that I bought this printer a year ago for the occasional printing need and still haven't gone through the initial toners yet. So far so good, decent quality and speed, quiet and small. I'm happy with it. If not for the paper jam issue, this is a great printer as I've seen it on sale for about $150 in many occasions.

Both me and my friend's CLP 300 had trouble picking up paper from the paper tray, so to fix the problem, you need to first take the paper tray out and empty it. At the front of the paper tray and you'll find a ramp responsible for lifting your stack of paper onto the feeding mechanism. What you'll need to do is to remove this ... Read More
