Inkjet technology has come a long way over the years, and even some of the cheapest all-in-one printers can produce photo lab quality pictures. That's great for the average home user, looking to print a small snapshot every now and then. But what about the serious digital photographer, who wants to be able to print larger photos at the highest quality? Well Epson may have the answer, with the introduction of their new R2880 Large Format Photo Printer. It can print anything from 4 x 6" snapshots, all the way up to 13 x 19" studio sized pictures. If you use roll paper, you can even print panoramic sized prints at up to 13 x 44". Although I enjoy digital photography a great deal, this is honestly the first large format printer I have ever owned, so I was very excited to get it out of the ... Read More

I was excited about getting this printer, but was soon disappointed with its functions. It did not perform as I expected to do. The instructions were difficult for me to understand. I still have not printed a 5X7 print yet. I am back to using my standard Canon printer.

Canon Pixma MX7600 Office All-In-One Printer (2437B002)
We have run it through its paces for 8 months now in a small office. We generally only use the MX7600 for color jobs and use our cheap-to-operate older laser copier/network-printer for black and white text business docs and forms. (We do not use the fax or scanner functions on the MX7600 as we have a separate dedicated high-speed document scanner and use an Internet fax service so I will not comment on those fuctions.)

We wanted a color printer/copier that was full featured and high quality. But we only have low volume print needs because we run a "less-paper" office, usually opting for electronic document delivery and storage. This unit fit the bill--it offers automatic full duplex for copying and printing which saves time, paper, ... Read More

Epson PictureMate Personal Photo Printer I am not an expert, but print lots of pictures taken on a point-and-shoot compact camera. I have been very happy over a period of 3 years with this printer. It is reliable. The quality is very good. The pictures are as good as any I get from the local print shop.

We ordered this printer as a replacement for an HP Officejet Pro L7680 AIO printer. The Officejet was a pretty crummy printer as well, thus the reason for being replaced. It is quite clear now that HP's products have gone down the tubes. Let me explain why this laserjet is such a heap.

1. Printing: This thing runs through black toner like it was a kid in a candy store. No joke, it gets less pages-per-cartridge than the INKJET printer it replaced did, on tiny 88 ink cartridges. At nearly 4x the cost of an ink cartridge, these toner cartridges should last a LOT longer. The print quality for black text is excellent, but color photos better be formatted in CMYK, or they will come out hideously discolored.

2. Scanning: If I could get it to scan, it would be a miracle. No joke. As an AIO ... Read More

PC Hardware : Canon PIXMA iP4200 Photo Printer
Canon IP 4200P

I bought the Canon IP4200 a few years ago primarily for printing text documents, although I do occasionally print some pictures. Here are some of its pros and cons:

Pros
----
- Print Quality
The quality of printing for both text and images is superb and as good as it gets. Text printed in all of the Print Quality modes (FAST, STANDARD or HIGH) are sharp and the print quality on FAST and STANDARD modes rival that produced by the best inkjet or laser printers. The quality of the photos printed are comparable to those from a photo lab (yes, they're that good).

- Full duplex printing
Full duplex printing simply means that double-sided printing is fully automated - you won't have to manually feed documents back into the printer to finish the job ... Read More

I received this as a birthday gift and absolutely love it. It is a little expensive but I think it is well worth the money. The pictures have excellent quality and it is extremely user-friendly, even for someone like me who can barely put paper in a printer. I turned it on without reading the directions and it told me to insert the ink cartridge and the paper. I didn't even know where to start so I pushed the button on the screen that said "show me how" and it did and made it so easy. I have already printed so many pictures and love it!

This has been the most reliable clearest printer I have ever owned. It is large, but it does handle 16x20 prints wonderfully. I really like the large ink cartridges, they last well. I have never had any fade out at the end of a cartridges the way I had with other printers. For heavy paper, the back feeder works quite well but is hard to get useed to.

We just installed this printer yesterday (10/19/2008) on our small wireless network at home. Whatever problems that previous reviewers (and Mac sites) have reported, we didn't have them. Perhaps the drivers have been updated. Included software on the CD worked perfectly from 2 desktops and 3 laptops--one of them a Mac. Yes, the Mac installation worked perfectly the first time, and printed out beautiful pages without gibberish. Excellent printer, amazingly fast.

I have purchased the Epson Workforce 40 for its photo printing capabilities. My discontinued Epson R1800 has laid down on me and for a short term printing I chose the Epson Workforce 40. I was very surprised on how great it printed my 8 x 10 photos. Now I will say not as nice as the larger format printer. I plan to replace this printer in the first part of 2009. I think the R1900 replaces the R1800, so I will be purchasing this new model Epson. I do very large prints and lots of panoramic photography. Also, I have found that by using Epson inks is better then generic. You get more prints by using Epson inks. Cost more, but more printing per cartridge, and a higher quality looking print. Go Epson. God Bless America.
