This is my first webcam, so, I don't have any others to compare with. I do, however, have played with built in webcams from the newer mac books as well as PC laptops own by friends. The webcam is nicely built and mounts securely on top of my LCD monitor. I got it primarily to use video chat through skype. It works well for that application. Install went well. I downloaded directly from logitech and did not use included CD. My only con is that it does not focus well at all. I knew it is a manual focus webcam. I used a white background with letters focus method. I set the white background on the chair at the my sitting distance and turn the dial till I can read the letters on the white background. quite and fast. i lvoe the glowing lights at the base when it's in use. i have been using this for a few weeks now as a time machine backup drive, and also for music and videos. it's running smoothly and does not generate that much heat.

I chose the G11 over the G15 because I didn't like the thought of having to give up my spinning volume wheel from the old Logitech Elite. Sadly, the volume wheel on the G11 is much worse than on the Elite. It has barely any tactile feedback, which would normally not be a problem, except that it is completely smooth save for a tiny bump you can barely feel. I had to adjust to pressing down harder on it to get it to even turn. I ran into a small snag with the media keys and controlling iTunes. By default, they would only control iTunes if it had focus (this may be iTune's fault). I had to get a plugin to fix this (get mmkeys.dll and use it as a plugin). I bought this little unit about six months ago for use with my laptop while traveling. I got tired of screwing with the tangle-prone cord on the mini mouse I had been using. The unit is small and weighted perfectly when the battery is in it. It's precise enough for what I want to do on the road: web surfing, e-mail and light gaming. Notice I said light gaming. Using this for something like battling in WoW would result in some pitiful showings. The precision of the laser just isn't there. But again, serious gaming isn't what this mouse is about. And yes, Linux users, it works just fine with your favorite distro. The only knock-down on the mouse is the battery life. The ad says up to 1 year of use. Yeah, not so much. This MacBook is a great upgrade all things considered. I am a longtime Mac user and have used them for everything from graphic design work to simple college papers. I recently upgraded to this Mac from an Ibook G4. If you are intending to use this Mac for heavy graphic design and professional video editing then it may not be for you. I would like to refute a few of the bad reviews people have given. 1.) There is no firewire - This is apparent by simply looking at the laptop and thus if you use firewire often then don't buy it, this will save some time returning it. Many average users do not need firewire and transferring files from an old Mac is still very easy with this new MacBook. 2.) This mouse would be absolutely perfect if it weren't for a few imperfections. First of all, having a curve where your wrist would rest isn't a good idea, and needs a cushion of some sort to be comfortable. Also, my mouse isn't entirely smooth in movement. By that, I mean I can feel the friction from the three underlying tabs. It would help to have some sort of scroll bar too. All in all, this mouse has imperfections, but the enjoyment of using it surpasses the minor annoyances that are sometimes encountered.
