We got this notebook to replace our daughter's Dell Inspiron 1500 notebook. For my daughter's purposes (2nd grader) to complete online assignments, typing stories on Microsoft Word, and visiting educational websites, this computer performs well. She also accesses her Webkinz account to play games and I use her notebook to synchronize her songs onto her IPOD Video Apple 30 GB iPod AAC/MP3 Video Player Black (5.5 Generation). There is a port for SD cards, 3 USB ports, and NIC port for LAN access. We also have a CD/DVD drive that reads movie DVDs, software DVDs and CD-ROMs. The drive also burns DVDs. I have been working with Windows every since I have used computer. So, since I've started using Linux, I have had to learn by trial and error. True. It is more secure that Windows. But, to this point Windows is more user friendly.

I short, I love it. The folks who don't love it are trying to make it do something other than what it intended to do. I love the fact that it's light. I love the fact that the keyboard is just big enough to touch type on (not so with the 8.9 inch machines). I love the fact that it comes set up and ready to go with all the software you need (and lots more). I love the fact that this particular model comes with a spacious solid-state drive! No hard drive to fail at the most inopportune moment, yah! So, it is what it is, but what it is is perfect for me.

This Netbook seems to be way under-rated by others. I love this tiny netbook. Everything worked great for me right out of the box. Even the webcam, wireless, and wired network all worked great with out any additional setup. I highly recommend this little netbook to anyone that is always on the run or anyone that just needs something simple that "just works", and does not have anything Microsoft on it to ruin you day :) I played with some of the other netbooks and this definately tops my list for best netbook. There are a LOT of netbooks out there, and they are all very similar. This one is a bit of an exception, in that it is thinner and is trimmed out better. However, it will have virtually identical performance to the others, and is a LOT more expensive. Most of the attributes the other reviewer attributes to this model are also true of any netbook, and many of them sell for under $400. If you are willing to pay for appearance and the thin and light design, then this may be the model for you. Otherwise, you might want to check out: The Acer Aspire One (smaller, much cheaper) The Samsung NC10 (another 10.1", with a better keyboard and much better battery life) The HP Mini 1000 The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 The Lenovo S10 or any of the other miriad 9/10" ... This laptop is pretty awesome! I have had it for about a month now and I completely love it! Everywhere I go I get tons of compliments on it. I mainly use it for school and just general internet and I cant complain about anything....well except the battery life is pretty short so keep it plugged in! All in all I could not ask for a better laptop. And the price was a steal!!
