This is the laptop my dad bought(and I use) and we all love it, the design is awesome, plenty of ram and storage space, sonys tech support is good and makes my dad happy every time he calls, he has many questions about windows vista and they answer everything without any problems, me and him have cybershot also and using the sony pro stick duo with the laptop and the camera then in my psp and ps3 is so fantasticly easy and smooth. Sony keep up the good work my family and friends love you.

I placed an order for this laptop on Aug 16, 2008. Promised to deliver 18th and then 22nd but actually the product is out of stock (per CSR comment). I finally bought this from CC where it is much cheaper (incl taxes). If you can get the product from Amazon right in time at a lower price than others, it may be a worth. This review is not for the product but for Amazon. I am going to leave a detailed product review in the store which offered me great price and wonderful service.

Initial experience was mixed. The set up files for Microsoft One Care were corrupted (and on the restore partion also). I tried Norton 360 trial for security. Wireless sped seems to be slower than previous Centrino N setups. Sony support went on the system and nearly trashed it. I suspect the excellent but very tight security of Norton, may have added to my problems. After initial frustration, I tied to restore it to factory settings and used a disc for Microsoft One care. With his new instalation, what a difference. This is now the computer I was looking for. I bought MacBook Pro from Newegg and it came with obsolete operating system and without support. It took three days to resolve support problem and update operating system. IMovie crashes repeatedly. The worst thing is that when it does you have to wait up to an hour for the system to go through its paces to do anything else. Generally there are delays in any application and one never k nows if the system got stuck or it is doing something. Most of the time there is no indication what the system is doing. I do not think I will ever buy another Mac again.

I think that this laptop is a good answer to my expectations for having a ultramobil PC.The aluminium case, the sound and the weight are very good. However as linux user, i must to say that the O.S. choosed, Suse Enterprise, it's too much poor (it is very rare for HP tradition). The equipment crashed often and linux shell is very limited... I made the upgrade to Opensuse 11 KDE and the improvement was amazing, but driver search was not easy, so my advice is: purchase with linux, only if you have enough time and knowledge to fix all software issues.

I was on hold for customer support for more than 20 minutes once, and more than 30 minutes a second time without getting to anyone on the other end. Online tech support is a joke, as the tech support staff kept cut-and-paste the same text telling me to call that number. I had been using Dell for the last 10 years, and thought this small, inexpensive PC would be good to browse Internet in the living room. Big mistake! I will be more than willing to just forget about the warranty and pay for a replacement myself if there is a place to purchase one. But, I am not able to find one yet. My Eee PC 900 is now collecting dust. I don't think ASUS is ready for prime time...

The Toshiba Satelite A305-S6853 is a very good option for people that find a usefull laptop. Fine speed, excellent look and sound. The size could be big, but for me is a perfect first laptop $$$.
