I wont duplicate all the previous reviews. I want to add that this little unit is great for traveling with on a motorcycle. I have had it for nearly a year, and its nowhere near as finicky about rough handling as a full size (and expensive) laptop. Once it's slipped into the DVD player case I bought for it, along with the charger, USB retractable travel mouse, and a little laptop light, its ready for the rough and tumble world of riding around tucked into a saddlebag. Full size laptops are cumbersome to carry on a bike, but this thing is quite happy, with no worries because of the Solid State Drive. Plus this PC works great for checking email, surfing and playing media. Lots of places now have free or low-cost wifi, and this little unit finds them and connects easily. I can take ... Read More

Fast, powerful laptop with zippy wireless Internet performance. Acceptable battery life. Bluetooth wireless mouse is great accessory to add. Only nit is slightly washed out (low contrast) LCD monitor performance on web pages. Found notes on web on how to manually adjust video driver settings to optimize for crisper whites. But for the price, we are very happy with this purchase.

This is based on past experience. The first thing I noticed was how light this laptop is. Compared to other current model laptops, it may or may not be considered light by some. This U100 is almost identical to the $429 ($80 price difference now) model MSI Wind U100-279US 10-Inch Mini Laptop (1.6 GHz Intel Atom, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 6 Cell Battery, 802.11 b/g/n+BT, XP Home) White - you can read my detailed review there. What you are giving up for the $80 difference is: 1/2 the battery capacity. This is a 3 cell - the more expensive model is a 6 cell (and they make a 9 cell aftermarket battery). Expect 2.6 hr, 5.5 hr, and 8 hr runtimes for each battery. I bought the machine about 6 months ago from amazon and hardly used it until now, since I already had two additional notebooks. This machine has serious performance issues and design flaws esp. considering the premium price you pay. There are many flaws but I will point to the most glaring one .... The machine heats up badly after you try to watch anything for 5 minutes which is graphic oriented like an online video on amazon on-demand. Fan starts running at 6200 RPM (max speed) and then everything slows drown drastically and you are forced to shutdown. Bought this netbook as a 2nd laptop for use on-the-go. That was a week ago. Haven't touched my 17" laptop touched since. Don't underestimate this little machine. It fires up in no time. The screen is bright comfortable in use, and large enough to display virtually any webpage. The batteries are awesome and allow for hours and hours of use. Essential for a mobile machine like this (I'd advise against buying a cheaper model with less battery capacity.) Prior to buying, I had some worries about the keyboard being too small. This - for my size of fingers at least - turned out not to be a problem at all. The two-finger scrolling and zooming-in functionality of the mousepad is great. MSI has made the best Netbook so far. The build quality is nice and the keyboard layout is comfortable. It was a good choice to go with a 10 inch screen model. I have bought two of these so far. An all black model, that I upgraded the HDD to 250GB and 2Gb of Ram. I dual boot Win XP and Mac with it and works great. This Love Edition model I bought for a friend who's in school. She's the envy of her classmates. Great for school kids and road warriors who don't need a heavy muscle machine and easy on the weight.
