I think that this laptop is a good answer to my expectations for having a ultramobil PC.The aluminium case, the sound and the weight are very good. However as linux user, i must to say that the O.S. choosed, Suse Enterprise, it's too much poor (it is very rare for HP tradition). The equipment crashed often and linux shell is very limited... I made the upgrade to Opensuse 11 KDE and the improvement was amazing, but driver search was not easy, so my advice is: purchase with linux, only if you have enough time and knowledge to fix all software issues.

the EeePC 901 is better than expected; super fast for every single application, incredible battery life, huge screen on a reduced laptop size, AND THE BEST OF ALL IS THE MULTI TOUCH!. i had a eeepc 701 and this upgrade is really nice. the charger looks like a toy because is so small!!, the dc plug is now in the right side and it make a great difference when you have to use the eeepc on your legs or on the bed while charging. the classic neoprene bag was made with a better material. the speaker sounds great, the mic works fine too. the webcam takes clear images and videos. the xandros was updated and now has a lot of new and useful applications. this was the better way to spend $600.

This is my first laptop and my son thought I should get more ram but whats nice is I can add if I need it. I was pleased with the price, ease of use and the screen is crystal clear. I would recommend to anyone that needs a good basic laptop, after you remove all of the extra software you don't need. There were no reviews when I purchased this laptop and was a little skeptical, but I am very happy I made the purchase.

This laptop is awesome for school!!! i can run Matlab, autocad, maple, office. great for any student that does not want to break his/her back. One thing. The "hard drive" (okay, the flash ssd, you get the idea), anyways, the hard drive comes with XP installed on a NFTS partition, and it DOES run slow. The FIX for this is to format the hard drive as FAT32 and reinstall XP. You will need a windows XP cd (not the recovery disk from asus) and if you have a external cd / dvd drive you can just boot the eeepc from the CD (press "Esc" a bunch of times on the start up screen, then select your dvd drive). if you dont have one you will need a 1Gb at least flash drive. and follow these instruccions: http://www.eeeguides.com/2007/11/installing-windows-xp-from-usb-thumb.html ... Excellent choice for me. It does everything that I want it to do and not heavy to lug around. I can cope with the short on memory by using flsh drives, etc.I'm not a touch typist so the small keyboard does not bother me. This product was a real hit with my wife. I got the EeePC for my wife as a present so she could practice her hobby, writing, without having to lug around the weight of a full laptop. I was initially a little concerned that the Linux interface would be uncomfortable for her as she normally uses a MS Windows laptop for work, however, I shouldn't have worried. This sub notebook is so simple to use, and easy to carry, that she hasn't let the thing out of her sight since I got it a few weeks ago. As for Microsoft's applications, she hasn't missed them one bit, and it doesn't hurt that the applications save your work in files which can be read by Microsoft office when you copy them off the EeePC.

Best purchase I've ever made on Amazon hands down, and I have bought a lot of stuff on here! I opted to put an alternative OS on this little treat of a UMPC. 10" is the perfect size too, 8.9" is too small for anything. Looks and works great, also practically dead silent.

For the money, the Sony FW-139 has a fast processor and a great videocard. I also love the 16+ inch screen which might be a little smaller than a 17" screen... but the notebook is considerably lighter than 17" models. It allows me to maximize screen real estate without having to lug around a beast. I have two gripes about this laptop though. The first is the placement of USB ports. The Sony comes with three and all of them are on the right hand side towards the very front. If you are right handed and use an external mouse, this becomes a very clumsy situation as your mouse cannot be that close to your laptop since all the usb devices plugged into the right side get in the way. I bought this laptop about a week ago, and I've got to say, it's a well rounded machine. Graphics are on par for what you're paying for (I got mine at Office Depot for $750), and this being my first experience with vista, I got to say, its not as bad as I thought. Back to the graphics, this isn't an Alienware, that said, I installed DOOM 3 and it did well, aside from some anti-aliasing hiccups and slow-downs during extreme high action. One thing you should definitely take note of is battery life. I bought this PC for school, and there are days where it just makes it through the day without plugging in. Definitely bring an AC adapter if you'll be moving around a lot. The laptop overall is light weight, and can be used comfortably on your lap, although the battery does get hot at times.
