This is the third laptop I've owned and it is by far the best. When I originally started researching laptops I was reluctant to look at Sony because they always seemed overpriced. After reading reviews, like this one, I decided what the heck you get what you pay for and let me tell you this machine is awesome. Unlike the Dell, and HP machines I owned before this one is light, fast, and very portable at just over 5 lbs with a 14.1" screen. Let me say the only reason that I didn't give this VAIO a 5 star rating is because like many others I HATE all the pre-loaded software that come on a new computer and this one seemed to have more than most. Once I uninstalled all of that stuff and tidied up the hard drive this thing zooms. One other small drawback is that the standard battery doesn't last ... Read More

No, I don't own an IdeaPad. I do own a Thinkpad R51 and my wife has one as well. Further, I am a trained/certified ThinkPad repair technician.

Warranty: Lenovo has a generous warranty, but it only covers manufacturer defects. Deal with it; its no different then any other company.

Accidental protection: They have an *extremely* generous accident protection program. I sold ThinkPads when the AP first debuted. To clarify what it covered, I called IBM and asked. They told me that as long as I had the model number/serial number off the bottom (and a few pieces positively identifying the unit) it would be covered. There actual words were: "throw it out of an airplane if you want; if you have something to identify it, we'll replace it."

Tech support: I have ... Read More

Only things that would make this better would be a faster processor and a 1080 screen but still exellent.

This is my first Sony laptop ever!!!!!
I recently had a Hp Dv2000t 14' laptop and I thought that was a good starter laptop. The Hp had a great Intel Processor and was well priced(wait for coupons online). The large downside of the Hp was the 2 hour battery life(under normal use-internet, office software and mulitimedia). I mean its hard for a student to find some wall outlets in the library or on campus to use the laptop; screen was ok, keyboard was above average; main reason for getting the Sony TT was the battery life and weight.
Ive tested the battery life and taking notes of the Battery Percentages and noticed that the laptop was able to give me over 5 hours. The Sony Z and SR series laptops advertise 6hrs, so they should give you less( 3.5-4hrs). The TT160 weighs little and looks awesome. ... Read More

Bought as laptop replacement on 17" machine that I carried around the world several times. Strong construction and light enough to carry to the jobsite and the hotel room at night. Screen is bright and clear. I like the keyboard also and the size and feel of them has proper spacing for large hands. The OS is fairly stable with only a screen driver problem sticking out as of yet. I use this maching for drafting and web development programming for the most part. But the entertainment side is a great plus. Blueray movies are vivid to watch and the screen is viewable from the sides as well. Have not seen a use for the blueray drive yet but it will be handy after the drive nears full. I would recommend this machine to anyone who wants it all in their machine, and not worried about the near 12 pounds with power ... Read More

Not only is the Apple Air is slickest notebook around, it's pretty powerful. I've run HD (720p) video on it flawlessly, and Google Earth, which a demanding program. The keyboard is fantastic and a dream to type on. The screen is absolutely beautiful. I've used some of my landscape photography as wallpaper. The 128gb SSD is very fast--if you're buying this computer, pony up the extra $$$ for the SSD.

The only negatives I can see are the lack of ports. One headphone jack, one video out (which you need an extra accessory for), and one USB? Thankfully, it has Bluetooth 2.1 so you don't have to waste the USB port on a mouse. Also, there's no Kensington lock (although the computer is small enough to tote around). Apple is going to let other companies make their own adapters for the Mini DisplayPort.

I was a little skeptical at first. But this Compaq was a great buy, at around 550 dollars; it has everything a person needs in a PC. 2 GB Ram, a big hard drive, well you can just see the item description. It's exactly as they mention it. It runs very smoothly, and has great wi-fi connectivity. I am very happy with this purchase.

Though I'm giving a great review on this product, a lot of other computers are coming out around this price, so look around before you purchase this one. You might find an even better PC under 600 dollars.
